Frankly, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to the Critical Race Theory curriculum. What is it, where does it come from, and is it legitimate? Has anyone here read it and maybe give a quick summary?

If this has been covered in another thread, then I missed it.

I do not believe it happened. How many congressmen swapped 'sides'? If it was massive, then shouldn't we be able to see that in the elections especially for President?
It wasn’t the congress members who swapped sides, it was the voters. It’s easy to see that happen if you look at historical data.

Ever hear of a guy named Strom Thurmond?

I went to a religious school as well! And that is not what the vast majority of parents are upset with the schools about.

Yes, I am aware of the southern strategy theory.
As others have mentioned, it’s not a theory, it’s the actual name Republicans gave to their strategy to woo southern voters from the Democrats. It was their brainchild and they enacted it throughout the late 60s through the 90s and even today and it was incredibly successful.

The fact that you said you were taught this in school and yet think it is a theory and don’t believe it happened makes me question how well you were taught any of the things you claim to have been taught.

This has got to be trolling.

Lee Atwater talked about it on the record as a thing that definitively happened and a look at the electoral maps for presidential elections would show you. Why do you refuse to believe something that is admitted to by people responsible for implementing it?

Anti-vaxxers goin to anti-vax....everything....when someone can't even agree on what are known basic facts....not worth interacting with any longer....

It's a greater issue than that. When people cannot agree on what are known basic facts they lose the ability to communicate at all for agreement on most basic facts is the basis of language.

I'm sure we'll see more of these lawsuits as time goes on
    =================================

Escalating the conflict over the teaching of race, the American Federation of Teachers’ New Hampshire affiliate filed a lawsuit Monday charging that the state’s new law, restricting certain lessons, is unconstitutionally vague and an abridgment of free speech.

The New Hampshire law, signed over the summer, bans public schools from teaching that one’s race, sex or other characteristics are “inherently superior” to others, or that people are inherently racist, sexist or oppressive on account of their race, sex or other characteristics.

Parents or others who believe the teachers are in violation may sue school districts in court or file complaints with the state, which may discipline teachers. A conservative group called Moms for Liberty tweeted that it would pay $500 to the first person who “successfully catches a public school teacher breaking this law.”

AFT New Hampshire President Deb Howes said in a statement that the law had frightened teachers who worry they may be targeted even if they are not breaking the law. “Educators are terrified of losing their teaching license over simply trying to teach,” she said.

A spokeswoman for the state’s education department declined to comment............

You are getting warmer. Why would the voters 'switch'? Racial or economic?
Was it the rich or poor whites who 'swapped'?
Indeed. The presidential elections should tell you a lot.

Or, now hear me out, some people can actually think for themselves and doesn't take what, especially the media, tells them at face value.
I have been told language is very very fluid, especially today.

The fact that you are conservative doesn't faze me at all, I've seen enough from you to realize that you're not hooked up to a bunch of wild eyed conspiracy theories so bad that they interfere with basic communication.

    We can still communicate.

But when someone comes along who's sure that the earth is flat, thinks we're having an alien invasion from outer space, and that low power radio waves are a sinister deadly plot to end life on earth then basic communication becomes strained.

Why don’t you explain what you think happened?

    Ding Ding. We have one.
Ding Ding. Do you believe that he was the only one?

Do you want us to go through every single one and list them like you are some kind of moron who doesn't even know what happened in your own lifetime?

You are just a troll. We don't have to prove reality to you.

Your posts have become absolutely pathetic.

You can list them all, I have faith in you.
You are only missing 1 more but you are kind of correct. Thurman joined the GOP before Nixon and Watson of SC joined the GOP during the Nixon run. So, there were 2. All the other racist segregationist and Klansmen stayed with the Democratic party.

Sounds like you can't prove reality at all.

Is anyone forcing you to reply to 'troll' posts? It is still kind of a free country, you don't have to 'take the bait'.

Why don’t you explain what you think happened?
What I think happened is the south became more industrial and in the 80 and 90s with Regan and Newt doing the whole 'contract with America' happened. The conservative appeal of patriotism, Christianity/pro-life and anti-communism (cold war) is what drove southern voters to the GOP (not at all unlike today....interesting). Especially the wealthy southerns who liked the free market selling point. You guys kept all but 2 of the dixiecrats'.

    David Duke

This really is a silly game. Maybe you didn't grow up in the south, but my family all went from George Wallace supporters to David Duke republicans by the early 90s. Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, everyone.

Reagan Republicans in the south were largely old segregationists. Don't believe me, listen to Lee Atwater.

You are either a troll or just clueless.

It's like trying to claim the Civil War was fought because of states rights and not slavery. Lol.

Same old reframing of history to try and remove the racial animus of the majority white population towards the minority black population. Just claim ignorance and say it was because of some other reason.

    You mean this Atwater?

Here is the transcript I found with interview:
    https://www.bradford-delong.com/201...p-lamis-rough-transcript-weekend-reading.html

I just don't think this is an absolute as everyone thinks it is. By the interview that is often used as proof, you can see it was edited to show this while taken in the full, it kind of shows just the opposite.

If a 'troll' has a different opinion from the Democratic party, then by all means, you can call Mr. Troll.
