Just saw this. So, blaming Biden for the price of gas while ignoring the work Trump put in to make the situation worse for us but better for his buddy Putin?

I thought it was russian disinformation that a president can have any effect on gas prices. We were told this over and over but now, it appears only an orange president can have that effect? Funny how that works.

The people who told you it was Russian disinformation were CCP propagandists. Duh!

Farb please read this so we can all get on the same page. OPEC controls the oil supply. They can saturate market or limit the amount to make the price skyrocket. It has not one thing to do with the president of America.

Do you know why the gulf War started? OPEC slashed the price of oil because Iraq refused to pay back war debt to Kuwait from their war with Iran. 14 billion was the bill. So Kuwait over produced saturated the market so Iraq couldn't make squat selling their oil. The response from years of that was kick their arse.

The world goes thru more 100 million barrels a day. The US of A only can produce like a tenth of that. We don't have a thing to do with price.

A president has no effect on gas prices. This is fact I was told.

So again, a US president has not effect on gas/oil prices except for Trump, who is effecting now as a past president? Did I get that right?

Why are you struggling so much with this? The daily price of oil (because it's traded on a global commodities market) is beyond the President's control. Even releasing oil from the strategic oil reserve is mostly for show because of the volume of oil that is traded daily. But Presidents can have strong effects on markets both short term, with deals and diplomacy done with oil producing nations and cartels (like OPEC), and long term with policies towards oil production here at home.

A president cannot affect gas/oil prices just by existing, and certainly not just by having an R or D behind his name. A president can affect gas prices by creating policies related to production, supply, distribution, etc.

These policies may have immediate or short-term effects (releasing oil from the strategic reserve, for instance), or they may have long-term effects that span many years after they are enacted (opening and closing pipelines, shifts toward or away from renewable energy, etc).

As usual, there's context and nuance that you would like to ignore, but that is completely relevant to the conversation.

also in addition to this, republicans don't support the build back better plan or green deals, that would bolster renewal energy and lessen dependence on gas etc

but this is nothing new, we've seen this played out time and again.

Ok, so how is Trump responsible for the gas prices? Why is Trump responsible for buying Russian oil currently?

You have to stop skipping the reading material.

OPEC+ has kept a tight grip on supply since it agreed to its historic production cut deal in May 2020.

Around here one can kind of sort out who are conservatives from who are liberals by what they drive. An odd thing it is that the so called conservatives do not conserve, while the liberals do conserve.

The typical conservative around here drives a huge, almost new, 4x4 pickup often with a crew cab that would get somewhere between 8 to 12 miles to the gallon, often due to the very fast way they drive it would tend toward the lower mileage end of 8 MPG.

When I see one of those overtaking me I like to announce to anyone riding in my car "HERE COMES DONALD J TRUMP" moments before they roar past me showering my car with stones their oversize "meats" (tires) pick up from the road in the tread that would be more suitable for mud racing.

The typical liberal around here drives a small car, often several years old that bought used, that would get between 25 to 35 miles to the gallon. Being the actual conservatives, liberals tend to drive at a modest 55 miles per hour to make the most of the gallons of gas that they do buy.

Now about gas prices, we're currently paying around $4.50, that is by no means the highest prices I have ever seen. Back in the first half of 2008 when George W Bush was President the prices were quite a bit higher than the are now. I think the average for that first half of that year was about what it is now, but in early summer it peaked all the way up to $5.15 which was 65 cents more than it is now 14 years later.

The funny thing about those high prices is they were high and stayed high for quite a while over $4.00 a gallon for couple years during Bush's years. During that time of high prices the conservatives around here kind of quit driving as many of those monster trucks. But as soon as the prices went down during the Obama years the monster trucks came roaring back.

Now I'm going to chuckle about the high prices that really don't affect me nearly as much as they affect those money wasting Trump supporters.

    :)

I'm the actual conservative, conserving both money and the environment, they're foolish wasters. Now I'm going to laugh out loud.

True story, although I get about 18 to the gallon.
