Well, SFL, this is just a stupid thing to be upset about. I’ve personally watched him answer questions from reporters off the cuff numerous times over the last couple of weeks. He has addressed the public numerous times since his inauguration.

Breaking 911, LOL. That’s essentially a shirt post account, you know that right?
Oh wow, you are complaining about what I post again. I'm so surprised. 🙄 I posted it because of the video, but feel free to keep complaining while you post things from Huffington Post, David Frum, Emptywheel.

That "doddering old fool" mopped the floor with Trump during the debates. Trump acted the fool to try and trip him up, and Biden showed that he was in full control. I find it laughable that the extreme right still tries to hang on to this viewpoint. I guess when you have no ideas or policies, you throw out trash like this.

What happened to my Republican Party?
Why he hasn't held a press conference yet without a pre-screened list of reporters? Why did his staff cut off the video when he said he would take questions? Why are reporters escorted out of rooms when they shout questions at him? Does that seem normal to you?

He will hold a press conference within a short period of time.

In case you hadn’t noticed, that video was a call with House representatives. I feel pretty sure the question and answer part wasn’t supposed to be public so that all could speak freely about pending legislation. So the contention that the video was “cut off” for some nefarious reason is really just not true.

The reporters who have been present at Biden’s addresses are regular WH press corps, as far as I know. They aren’t pre-screened, or can you prove otherwise?

Yes, Biden’s interactions with the press seem normal to me. He’s a little later than some other presidents with his press conference, but he has been dealing with a couple of severe situations. He has directed that there be daily press briefings, which are generally free from outright propaganda and lies. That alone is a huge improvement from the former guy. But, that didn’t seem to bother you, funny how that works. 😁

I don’t recall posting from Huffington, but there’s nothing wrong with the other two sources. They are identifiable actual people and you can evaluate what they say. “Breaking 911” is the opposite of that.

When you use better sources I won’t complain about them. 🤷‍♀️

Rove disciple David Frum shares responsibility for the people killed in Iraq due to his lies and he defended torture. Do you think he's a good source now because he was part of the Resistance against Trump?

Emptywheel turned in a source to the FBI(big no no in journalism) because she claimed they were involved in Russia interfering in the election. She still won't say what happened. She's not credible.

It's funny that you say we can evaluate what they say, but you never do that. You just complain about the source, but you rarely ever address what they said. I understand that's your way of dismissing a view or opinion you don't like, but it's very transparent.

I literally just addressed what your source said about the video. This is not the first time you say I don’t address what your sources say, but I do it pretty consistently. Here is what I just said:

“In case you hadn’t noticed, that video was a call with House representatives. So your source saying that this was some sort of effort to keep him from answering questions is just ridiculous. And I stand by my observation that your source here is pure shirt.

I evaluate sources all the time, I have even pointed out to you how I do it in the past.

You can agree with what people say sometimes and disagree with what they say other times. It’s not all or nothing. Very rarely are people all good or all bad. This shouldn’t have to be pointed out, but here we are. Just like you were trying to make it a bad thing that not all democrats agree with each other on the $15 minimum wage, it’s actually better to have more than one point of view honestly represented in a political party. The Republicans, due to the former guy, are losing their ability to have honest disagreements about almost anything. It’s very authoritarian and dangerous to our country.

He did hold a live, televised town hall two weeks ago where he appeared to me that he had a command of the issues. If they were “hiding” him, I doubt they would have him go out on stage live on TV to answer questions from citizens.

    I second what MT said.

They note that having the Q&A period open to the press is not standard procedure. Now that this has been confirmed, can you admit that Breaking 911 and any other Twitter account that reported it in this demonstrably false manner is not credible?

I would rather have a doddering old fool in the White House than a narcissistic authoritarian who proved in front of the entire world on live television that he wants to destroy the democratic institutions that are the hallmark of the United States of America. People who are unhappy that others voted for Biden should have saw to it that the GOP nominated someone who actually respects the Constitution and rule of law.

Perhaps next time instead of saying, 'Don't blame me, I voted Libertarian,' vote in the Republican primary for an actual constitutional conservative. The events of January 6 are all the justification anyone who voted for Biden over Trump need give.

And, you know, Reagan clearly suffered from dementia in his second term but people worship the ground he walked on.

I did vote for Kasich in the Republican primary...but we all know how that turned out. I'm still baffled at how Trump got elected. I'll never understand Trumpism.

I think most historians will also tell you or most honest neurologists will confirm that Reagan's possible dementia was at least partly due to long-term side effects or results of his near-fatal 1981 assassination outside a Washington D.C. hotel. Reagan, for all his faults, helped remake and revitalize American foreign policy where some experts believed we were losing our edge or our ability to.hold Soviets in check by the early 1980's post-Vietnam, Iranian hostage crisis fiasco, Soviet near-invasion of Poland in 1981 to crush Polish Solidarity movement in Gdansk, invading Afghanistan in December 1979 to prop up a failing, oppressive authoritian Communist client-state and essentially be the cause of a long-term, existential foreign threat rise of Islamic extremism.

US was seen as a fading economic and military power and Carter's Salt II agreement terms were perceived as allowing the Soviets to maintain a ICBM/nuclear missile tactical advantage by the late 1970's.

Trump also in terms of winning the presidency or being put in a position to become the world's most powerful man was due to an unusually weak 2016 GOP presidential field of candidates and a deeply flawed, talented Democratic frontrunner who's always found herself(and her husband) at or near the center of numerous controversies over the past 30 years. After 8 years of Obama outmanuevering and out-flanking two moderate GOP candidates, they gave up on it too soon because they associated that path with failure, even though by 2016, they'd regain control of both House and Senate. The national Republican establishment, in their desperation, turned to someone they didnt fully understand and were forced to sink or swim their political fortunes and image wherever his campaign and later, his eventual presidential administration.

It was a combination or confluence of advantageous events for Trump having a weak 2016 GOP primary candidate field and a very effective, but controversy-laden Democratic hopeful in Hillary made a lot of Trump's attacks on her stick, particularly the Benghazi US Embassy raid that left a sitting US Ambassador dead. We were left with a choice of electing a deeply flawed, terrible candidate and a borderline AntiChrist, authoritarian politcal novice.

I hope that provides some clarity as to why Trumpism took hold during some weird, unorthodox series of sequences and freaky set of unforseen events.

But Reagan’s cure was worse than the disease
The world may never recover from his foreign and domestic policies, so I’m taking your analysis with a grain of salt

Dave is a love first, treat everyone with respect kind of guy
For him and many others, a self destructive ideology based on hate and cutting off the nose to spite the face will never make sense
    Mostly because it’s nonsensical

The winner-take-all method in the majority of GOP primaries played a significant factor. Trump's infamous 30% base is all he needed. Although the Democrat primaries don't have as many winner-take-all states, those able to consistently command a plurality can eventually take an insurmountable lead. It's why you saw what was basically the knife in the back to Bernie Sanders in advance of Super Tuesday.

Anyway, all of this is slightly off topic but the point of my prior post is that quibbling over whether Biden is or isn't as mentally sharp as other past Presidents is more low-hanging fruit. The 2020 Presidential Election was basically a higher stakes version of Edwin Edwards vs. David Duke. As odious as Duke is, he could not have done one one-millionth of the damage that Trump has done to this country.

Somebody went and pissed Major off...

Aww...this is kind of sad. I'd hate to have to live without my dog but at least Biden goes to Delaware often enough.

ETA: This makes me feel better about it though. Rescue dogs if they weren't rescued as really young puppies are hard to ever fully train - which sounds like the problem here.

A person familiar with the dogs' schedule confirms to CNN they are in Delaware, but noted they have been known to stay there with minders when the first lady is out of town. Biden departed Monday afternoon for a two-day trip to Washington and California to visit military bases.
