    So many questions and it doesn't help when the Secret Service director is lying under oath.



    She said yesterday that the agency takes steps to ensure “interoperability" by having a representative from law enforcement joins forces with the Secret Service at the "command center," to provide seamless communication about suspicious behavior.

    But Rep. Bennie Thompson, the ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee, said he went to Butler, Pa. and came away with the opposite impression - that Secret Service and local law enforcement were siloed and local law enforcement was not included at the command center resulting in nearly an hour-long delay in the Secret Service getting the information about Crooks.

    Here's what she said in the hearing.

    “We ensure that we have counterparts in the security room [at the command center],” she told the panel. “So local law enforcement will place one of their personnel in the security room with our personnel, so we have interoperability with communications.”

    Rep. Thompson told me the opposite last night, that there was a breakdown between the USSS and local law enforcement:

    “I know that [local law enforcement] did not have, based on testimony from locals, somebody in the command center,” Thompson said.

    From what I have been reading the LEOs were a big reason it wasn’t worse.

    Not sure if this lying necessarily or someone didn’t do what the process requires. If she said there was LEO in the command center in Butler than I would agree she was lying. If she said we coordinate and have LEOs in the command center and that didn’t happen then there was an issue with the command in Butler.

    Based on testimony from locals? Like who?

    More heads probably will roll. We are 11 days in, and we have only been focused on the USSS. With the coming days we will probably see more USSS agents canned as well as the canning of Trump’s security detail. We also need to learn more about the LEOs part in all of this.

    looks like the Local LE agencies have some explaining to do. PRobably hoped that once Cheatle was out, it would kinda "go away"

    Zero surprises here based on the limited info:
    1. Terrible testimony = resignation
    2. Local LEOs dropped the ball in their area - not on roof or around perimeter
    3. Incident Command Structure failed because locals couldn't effectively communicate with feds
    4. Zero fed presence at the most obvious sniper location within effect range of common rifles
    If the locals assigned 1 LEO to cover the roof all day, then that's an abject failure in planning. High of 88F means you need to rotate guys on the roof. Zero excuse for not walking the perimeter or shutting down access to the property.

    This is going exactly how I said it would from the jump.

    I'm hearing that, but what I'm not hearing is how exactly they kept it from getting worse.

    I'm curious about this as well.
     
    Brand new video with some details we haven't heard before. Apparently there was a bike in addition to his van.



    In the footage, the men were discussing how they had noticed Thomas Crooks earlier before the incident unfolded.

    "Beaver County sn*pers saw him and sent the pictures out. This is him."
     
    They talk about some details I hadn't heard before. Who knows what are the certain facts at this point.

    Grasserly is asking important questions. How do we not already know these basic facts already? Just saying it's an ongoing investigation is bs when a former president almost got assassinated.



    GRASSLEY wants new acting USSS director to tell him if SECRET SERVICE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT HAD THE JOINT RESPONSIBILITY TO COVER THE AGR BUILDING WhERE THE SHOOTER PERCHED.

    He's writing the new Acting Secret Service Dir. an DHS Sec. Mayorkas to get "badly needed answers/clarity."
