If the locals assigned 1 LEO to cover the roof all day, then that's an abject failure in planning. High of 88F means you need to rotate guys on the roof. Zero excuse for not walking the perimeter or shutting down access to the property.

Having worked NSSE events, I’ve been solo in one spot for 12hrs. I’ve had “you can’t leave until the next person is there”. Doesn’t matter if one person was assigned or a rotation. If someone has to be on the roof at all times, then you don’t leave the roof until the next guy is standing on it.

More new details from the Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner. Apparently two officers, who were at a window overlooking the roof where the shooter took his shots, had left that vantage point to go look for Crooks.

Eight shell casings have been recovered.





Communications between Secret Service and local law enforcement

State Police then received a call and a text from the ESU about Crooks’ activity that they immediately relayed to Secret Service. Local, state and federal law enforcement were in a unified command post at the rally.

I just read today that the Secret Service had requested Trump not hold these outdoor rallies because they make it harder to protect him, but he didn’t stop. The general consensus is that he was holding these outdoor rallies in sometimes extreme heat for 2 reasons: they’re cheaper, and he was having trouble booking some indoor venues because he has a history of not paying the venues and word got around.

Wait, I thought you posted something yesterday saying there weren't any representatives in the command center, and now we find out that's not true. The stories are gonna keep changing until the final reports fron the respective agencies. I'd take any unofficial reports with a massive grain of salt.

I am interested in the answer to this question as well. Trump has stated already that he would have never gone on stage if he knew there was any threat at all, but I find myself often believing that the opposite of what Trump says is the truth and that has served me well.

Hot take: Within 5 years we will have higher standards to buy/fly a drone than buy a gun. They penetrate perimeters and can carry significant amount of ordinance. Assassination via a retail drone and pipe bomb is a real risk.
