Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Could you just get to whatever point you're trying to make? Because it's meaningless whether @samiam5211 would or wouldn't. Maybe @samiam5211 wouldn't date redheads, or women in their 90s, that wouldn't define who they are.
I think he's afraid that a trans woman is going to swipe right on his Tinder, and he won't find out that she is trans until it is too late.

How many questions until we get to the parts about whether or not they should be treated as equals by society?
OK, should a transgender woman compete with biological women in track and field?

I think they should be treated as equals but I draw the line when it comes to sports that require physical strength and size.

No, i think sports is an issue where the trans movement needs to pump the breaks or they are going to lose momentum. I have said that many times before.

Nothing else about the trans movement needs to be affected though. In every other aspect of society, people should be able to choose whatever gender they want.

EDIT: Well, it is a qualified "no". I just think we need more study and nuance to the rules. A trans woman who lived as a male until they were 30, shouldn't be able to compete against cis-women in most sports.

I think someone who transitions before puberty should be fine to compete in sports.

But i am not qualified to be making that determination anyway.

If there is a but after "They should be treated as equals," then you don't really think they should be treated as equals.

2+2 always equals 4 because that's what it equals. It doesn't equal 5 if one of the twos is written out in letters and not a digit.

You have your heads on your shoulders. I respoect that.

    Agreed!

You see, that was not hard.

One more thing: Would you date a transwoman if her penis was gone and she had a near perfect surgically created copulation canal?

You approve of transwomen competing in athletics that require size and strength with bio women?

    How would I know?

I approve of them competing and being marked down as competing as trans. Eventually, there will likely be a category of trans women competitions. Until then, just mark down that they are trans.

I agree with you a separate category is needed. Otherwise, this would be unfair to the vast majority of biological women. I am glad you are not an orthodox.

Would you date a trans woman?
