Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Did Maddow discuss masturbation and Catholicism recently? Seem like a lot of the talking points recently are about the church and the sin of masturbation. This seems to really bother you people. I don't hear a lot about it from actual catholics, just you guys.

Yall can masturbate as much as you all would like, no one cares you bunch of Godless heathens. ;)

Yeah, the masturbation angle is weird. I took sex ed in Catholic school. Maybe it's different elsewhere, but we probably spent 5 minutes of one class on masturbation and basically said, while it's technically wrong, you each gotta figure it out. So, it really was pretty much a non-event when we covered it. Most of sex ed was about human biology and growing into an adult. Which, on its own was an interesting subject.

I agree! These days most Catholic schools teach in a very secular manner and many of the students are not even Catholic. As for religion they simply teach ethics and how to be a good person. As for the teaching of religion the kids get to learn the nuts and bolts on how to do communion and confirmation. Many think these schools are like the fundie Evangelical schools.

I wouldn't go that far. Both Catholic schools I went to required students to attend Mass and take religion classes. They were definitely and decidedly not secular. But, that's the expectation for a lot of Catholic secondary schools. At the university/collegiate level, that's a different story, although the Catholic influence is still quite strong in even those schools.

Kids going to mass is just going thru the motions, you know that. My daughter took a class on the history of the Church when she was in High School and they lessons were not all positive. The teacher severely castigated the corruption that lead to the Reformation. The covered the good, the bad and the ugly with no issues. It is not the 1940s anymore.

BTW, only one of my five kids attends mass. I also suspect they are all agnostic like me.

:sigh: where's that goalposts gif when you need it.

"Two girls, allegedly sexually assaulted in school, four months apart, by the same person. And so far, the only person to be convicted of a crime is the victim’s father.

A school policy passed following what appear to be false statements from the superintendent — a policy whose passage would have been politically impossible had Smith’s story seen the light of day."

I will take 'the conspiracy of slippery slopes' for $100.
This is a wild story. The father is the domestic terrorist the school boards have been warning us about but the good news is the dude that wears a skirt can still use whatever bathroom he prefers. It helps with his hobby of school supported raping.

I'll take "why hasn't the father contacted the police if his daughter was raped" for $100.

Yea, why haven't the police gotten involved?

Because the father has likely been brainwashed by Tucker Carlson to believe that trans people are evil and he cares more about the movement than his daughter's rape.

Farb, do you believe that homosexuals should have separate bathrooms from straight people?

What is to stop homosexuals from raping our children at will in the bathroom? What difference does it make if they are wearing pants or a dress?

Man I don’t know here. I don’t agree with men in the restroom with girls. Call me a hypocrite, but if a woman wants to go into a men’s, have at it. (I know, I know, double standard). But as a father of girls, I can’t support that.

I need to go find the video of the black lady in the Asian spa. She sums up my feelings pretty well.

Google wi spa. Not sure if appropriate to post the video.

What about homosexual men sharing a bathroom with boys?

There is nothing wrong with homosexuality, however they have an advantage over heterosexuals. A gay man can shower with straight men in the gymnasium and feast his eyes. For the gay man that is the equivalent of a straight man showering with the women in the gym. BTW, I do not think this is a big deal.

I have a question for you. Are transgender women real women? Are transgender men real men?

Considering the second assault took place in a classroom and the bathroom incident happened before the school board passed the policy, I think we can safely say the bathroom policy had fork all to do with it.

That has nothing to do with sexuality. It has everything to do with being an ogling pervert vs being respectful.
