Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

…….“Just like the radical transgender movement is per capita the most violent domestic terror threat in America, probably the entire world, because you have all these shooters or murders or attempted murderers in such a tiny population of a country, yet they’re beyond reproach,” Trump continued……
So he and trump are transgender?

SCOTUS upholds TN's ban on gender-affirming care for minors:

Roberts for majority says the law doesn't actually discriminate and this should be left to the political process:

ACB for a joined concurrence says that because the Court determined the TN law does not classify on the basis of trans status, the decision thus can't be based on trans as a suspect class

    From Sotomayor's passionate dissent:

Worst court in our modern history. Straight up transphobic, right wing judges passing judgement by conservative, fascist, religious fiat. Free country my arse! 🤬

Severe backlash and reckoning are coming for them. I don't know when it'll arrive, but it's definitely coming for all of them.

A Wisconsin man has filed a complaint against his former employer, Generac, claiming wrongful termination due to his religious beliefs regarding LGBTQ matters. Spencer Wimmer has sought the intervention of President Donald Trump to address workplace discrimination stemming from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. He alleged that discrimination occurred during his five years of service.

Wimmer informed Generac’s Human Resources department that his Christian beliefs prevented him from using the correct pronouns for transgender colleagues. HR dismissed his request to refrain from using these pronouns for religious reasons and issued a disciplinary note stating that his refusal to comply violated company policy.

Generac denies the allegations, stating they comply with employment laws and had no specific pronoun policy.

Wimmer said, “I was asked to choose between my livelihood and my love for God and my beliefs.”

After allegedly experiencing harassment for a month, Wimmer was terminated from his supervisory role and reportedly was not allowed to collect his belongings during his departure.

Wimmer said, “There was absolutely a way for us to work together and have a compromise where we continue to have a professional environment.”...............

Even if the guy's claims were true, though it appears they aren't, this isn't truly about religious freedom.

If an employee said refer to me as Bob and another co-worker kept referring to them as anything except Bod, then the co-worker would receive the same disciplinary action. Referring to someone by their preferred pronoun that does not conform with your religious beliefs does not mean that you are violating your religious belief. Non-Catholics refer to priests to popes as priests to popes without violating their religious beliefs. Christians refer to rabbis as rabbis without violating their religious beliefs.

This is about using religion as a cover for discrimination and bigotry. It has nothing to do with religious freedom. Religious freedom is secondary to non-discrimination and non-bigotry every time.

Homophobe without deep religious conviction using religious extremism to collect and easy pay check. My bet is our right wing court system will validate is obvious lies by ignoring actual facts and the correct interpretation of the law in order to validate their religious extremism. We've already seen this playbook many times.

Only if he's their kind of Christian. If he's not, they'll tell him to pound sand.

How exactly did Gaines become a right wing darling and turn this into a career?

She tied with Thomas for fifth place which means four other women beat Thomas

That fact kind of blows the trans women have such a huge and insurmountable advantage if they compete

And furthermore, if Lia wasn’t in this race Gaines finishes fifth and nobody ever hears her name

Gaines is acting like she had the best race of her life, her time would have set a record but Thomas won by like ten seconds
    ==================

Olympic champion Simone Biles eviscerated former college swimmer Riley Gaines over her “sick” online comments about a transgender female softball player.

Gaines, a vocal Donald Trump supporter who is known for campaigning against trans athletes in women’s sports, had mocked the Minnesota State High School League for removing comments on their post about the Chaplin Park girls’ team celebrating the State Championship.

“To be expected when your star player is a boy,” Gaines wrote on X of 17-year-old pitcher Marissa Rothenberger, who threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out six to secure the title.

Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Biles responded to Gaines’s tweet on Friday, writing: “You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race.”

Gaines tied for fifth place with transgender woman Lia Thomas in the 200m freestyle swimming at the 2022 NCAA Championships.

“Straight up sore loser,” Biles continued. “You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”………

Riley Gaines is a bully and walking pile of shirt. She can fork off all the way.
It's also the classic troll thing, trying to redefine being a massive loser as somehow winning.

"We're such objectionable butt crevasses that this decent person with empathy for others left the room we're in entirely rather than put up with one more second of our bullshirt! We win!" Errr, no, that's definitely losing guys.
