Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

Because you're insulting our intelligence with some ridiculous responses. It's really that simple. You show disdain and disrespect for those who take their jobs seriously in the federal service, you refuse to acknowledge when you are wrong and you keep moving goal posts. Your posts come across as disingenuous and the claims of being willing to compromise are dubious at best.

I was a lifelong Republican before Trump descended from that escalator. Once Trump won the Republican nomination, I left the party and have been an independent since. I've grown tired of Trumpers justifying his idiotic behavior and clearly, his claim he could shoot someone on the street and not lose votes seemed dubious, but his sycophants eat it all up. I just don't get the obsession with his people believing his lies and embellishments.

So, I have a long litany of reasons I have little tolerance for people defending a guy who has admitted he grabs p*****, tears down anyone who doesn't agree with him, makes a mockery of our government and laws, shows disdain for people trying to do the right thing, has absolutely no integrity and on and on. He's a sheety human being. He doesn't deserve anyone's support, but his followers are gullible and believe everything he says even after being presented with concrete evidence. The truth doesn't matter for Trumpers.

If you can't see why I'm angry...I don't know what else to tell you.
It sounds like you've made an excellent case for putting me on ignore.

No, I get it. You are angry at Trump supporters because you believe that we have all of Trump's baggage and support all of his actions, not that we might think that he is the least bad of the options among politicians now or have another motive for supporting him. Obviously you are welcome to have that opinion. It is not uncommon for people on either side to do that.

My follow up question is this: Do you get this angry at Trump supporters you interact with offline? Co-workers, friends, etc? What about people that might sit at a table near you at a restaurant? If you overhear them talking about how they support Trump, are you put off your food?

Yup, I worked for DOL for 25 years as a Fed....Dave is pretty much spot on.....guys, you need to stop feeding this very hungry troll....IMO....
I think that SFIDC3 has a good point, folks. If you will just hover your mouse pointer over my login name, an option to "ignore" will appear. Viola! Problem solved.

Not at all. I actually know a few of them quite well. We get along fine. I don't agree with their political ideology, but I'll let them say their bit, offer my brief opinion and move on. The thing is, they don’t spend much time trying to correct me or say my opinion is wrong. We just say our bit and respect it.

We used to debate a good bit, but much less so now because we acknowledge we won't agree and generally avoid the topic mostly.

This discussion board is fundamentally different though. I approach it as more fine tuning what I believe, and even change my mind at times. Like I said, I haven't always been an independent.

As for co-workers, I don't talk politics unless they bring it up. And if it's a Trumper talking, I just listen because usually I've already heard all of the talking points. I just do it because I don't need any drama where I work. Here, I can pick it up or put it down. In the workplace, not so much.

As for other peope in restaurantsor what have you, as long as they're being respectful to other people, I don't really care what they say.

Good to hear. My approach is the same.

This nonsense should be disqualifying. He either doesn’t know what these agencies do, or is pandering to a low information base. Neither remotely qualifies him to run anything, IMO. And yes, every politician panders to some degree, but this type of pronouncement is just crazy talk.

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) said she doesn't see a "path for victory" for any Republican presidential candidate but former President Donald Trump in a recent interview on local radio.

"President Trump is in the race and right now I don't see a path for victory with anybody else with him in the race and the situation as it sits today," she told South Dakota radio station KWAT.

I'm going to disagree with Noem on that. There are two ways that Trump could miss the nomination:

    1) All of the never-Trump, establishment Republicans could unite behind a single champion to defeat Trump. It would need to be one with strong never-Trump credentials, or Mike Pence, who actually stood up to Trump that one time. Could be Romney, he's been consistently anti-Trump. Or they could pluck one of the current longshots, like Scott or Haley.

    2) DeSantis could attack Trump for not following through on things like building the wall and for allowing the Fauci cabal to shut down the country for so long. He would have to up his game in Florida, by helping more migrants who want to live in blue states get there. Many more. Then he would have to promise to do everything that Trump voters turned out to have him do, and at every opportunity, remind voters that Trump did not do it.

I don't think that 1) will happen due to egos, and I don't think that 2) will happen, because DeSantis knows he inherits the Trump mantle in 2028. Not a sure winner, but who else are Trumpers going to vote for?

    Only my opinion, of course.

    What about option #3?
Trump is placed under House Arrest and finally enough voters realize it would be embarrassing to have the President of the United States running the country while under house arrest....so they vote for other candidates in the primaries....then eventually by May of 2024, the strongest candidate emerges victorious?

Not gonna say that is impossible.

But, that's not how Trump supporters think, and they will always be a solid block of Republican primary voters. If Trump supporters were capable of letting embarrassment over his court cases put them off, I would think that they would have dropped him over the rape case more so than over this latest version of documents-gate.

Trump under house arrest will only galvanize them. Biden proved it is possible to win a general election from home, so Trump can certainly win a primary from his house.

    Sad. This entire situation stinks.

DeSantis continues his clown show of a campaign. I wonder if he will get in any trouble for this?

It's remarkable how base and pedestrian DeSantis's approach is. There's no skill to it whatsoever, just stupid bullshirt 'because it's woke' - it's so unintelligent. He has no appeal whatsoever apart from the small segment of "conservatives" (populists) who recognize what a liability Trump is.

But there's nothing there - he's a total wet noodle.

Of course people said that about trump in 2016
    ====================

A veteran GOP political strategist has described Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the "worst" presidential candidate he has ever seen.

Jeff Timmer, a senior adviser at the Lincoln Project, a Republican PAC consisting of Donald Trump critics, made the claim while tweeting out a clip of DeSantis suggesting he would try to abolish four federal agencies if elected president as part of his battle against the "woke" agenda.

Speaking to Fox News' Martha MacCallum, DeSantis said he would be "in favor" of eliminating the Education, Commerce and Energy departments and the IRS once in the White House…..

While sharing the clip, Timmer tweeted: "Ron DeSantis is the worst candidate I've ever seen.

"It's like he's been assembled from the discarded spare parts of Bobby Jindal, Bill de Blasio, Rick Perry, and Scott Walker," Timmer said.

Jindal, Perry and Walker, the former governors of Louisiana, Texas and Wisconsin respectively, as well as former New York City Mayor de Blasio, all unsuccessfully ran for president.…..
