Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

People say that a lot, but what direction have the Democrats moved is so drastically in? They've been advocating for the same things for the last 20 years, and when given the chance they mostly prove their policy goals are better for this country and it's citizenry. So in what what direction have they moved so drastically?

The Republicans are another thing entirely. They don't even have a direction for this country to move in, unless you consider moving backwards in time a laudable goal.
I think transgender rights is the biggest change. Democrats are actually more establishment than they used to be, except with respect to local policing.

Maybe Tim Scott...a Senator (who happens to be an African American)...maybe Tim Scott will attract voters to the GOP (or at least to himself)?

And that's an issue that Republicans specifically targeted because they knew the squeamish Independents would feel "uncomfortable" with it. Democrats weren't pushing any transgender legislation when this became an issue. Only Republicans were pushing anti-trans bill to scare Independents and Republicans, and it worked like it's always does.

As long as Independents continue to fall for Republicans cultural outrage and wars, we'll continue to be a rudderless meandering nation. Those are distraction issues made up specifically to divert the gaze of Independents and get them to vote for Republicans out of fear of what "Democrats are doing".

Is that and "woke" really the only examples of "Democrats moving to the extreme"? God, I wish people were smatter.

Would it surprise ANYONE if it turns out that these "caravans" of migrant "invaders" are funded and organized by a misinformation campaign waged by Republican operatives working in Mexico and S. America? I have always found it odd that these large caravans show up to our southern border at convenient times for the GOP.

Just put the idea out there and forking run with it regardless of whether it's true or not.

It's what the other side would do after all.

I'll go even further. I don't know that the "caravans" are real. I bet data doesn't back up a 10x increase in encounters at the border during a "caravan crisis".

When it comes to social issues like abortion, death penalty, in some respects, law enforcement, gun control, Democrats, nationally have moved more to the left then what they were even 20-25 years ago. There was a very good, informative study shown on NBC a few years ago where it stated how Democrats lost rural America over the course of a generation from the late 60’s-early 90’s

Someone like Bernie Sanders would’ve been perceived as a far-left fringe type 30 years ago, now he’s considered almost mainstream while Joe Manchin seems like a bygone relic from 50 years ago.

Because he's black? He can't get black people into the GOP in his own state.

I think Democrats have not run good campaigns and they do muddle their message from time to time. But their main issue is that for better or worse, the country is generally a centrist, leaning conservative country and they really haven't pitched a wide enough tent to pull in those who's votes are still able to be won. Simply saying they're not Republicans or MAGA isn't going to win those votes this election cycle. It worked fine last election because of how bad a candidate Trump was.

He's still terrible and I think ultimately Biden would beat Trump again, but I wonder how things will go down ballot. I know I won't vote Republican if it's Trump or DeSantis. But if it's Biden vs say a younger, moderate Republican, I probably wouldn't vote for Biden.

I really wish the Democrats went younger instead of sticking with Biden. I don't think he's a bad President at all, but he's boring and I think with his age, risky.

    Oh...is that so?
    I didn't know that.
When I saw him speak in the past I thought he was very articulate.
    I liked his style.
I don't know much about him as a legislator.
I hope my favorable impression of him was/is rooted in reality.
Naturally what I'm looking for in a candidate is often different than what many people on this thread are seeking.

And who in the hell would that be lol? Certainly no one with an actual shot at the nomination.

There just isn't an appetite amongst Republicans nationally for a moderate candidate. They're collectively way too sucked up in culture wars and all that bullshirt to nominate a moderate who openly doesn't give much of a shirt about that stuff.

Though I wouldn't vote for him to my knowledge he's not built the same as Trump or DeSantis and so if he were to somehow emerge as the nominee it would probably overall be a good thing.

The irony is I think someone like Mitt Romney would be pretty palatable to most of the country, but the party has moved so far right that there's no way in hell he'd ever get the nomination again.

For sure. shirt, I almost think they would shred him in the primaries now for being Mormon. Pretty sure it was a thing at least to some degree last time but I think it would be much more amplified and sharpened now.
