Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

Another POV about DeSantis being unable to recognize when he needs to pack it in, take the L and move on, for the good of his constituents. He’s simply unfit for political office.

I suppose Sarah Rumpf has a point as presented by @MT15 just above.
Yet I remember hearing DeSantis say:
    (I'll paraphrase)
Why should Disney receive preferential governmental treatment when compared to Orlando's Universal Studios, Tampa Bay's Busch Gardens and Orlando's Sea World? Florida is now treating all these Florida businesses equally.
    Isn't that fair?
(That's the gist of it...not an exact quote)

And that’s a valid point that people have made about Disney’s deal for decades

But that’s not what this is about and never was

This was put in motion solely for retribution for opposing the Don’t Say Gay law

If Disney had championed it, or even just stayed silent DeSantis doesn’t pull this power play

Because the 3 others you just referenced, their combined revenue doesnt even come CLOSE to that of Disney Orlando.

So they arent "equals" in any sense. ( Other than all 4 being "theme parks" )

To analogize in football terms - you are saying that Mahomes should get the same treatment as Andy Dalton because they are both QBs.

    It simply doesnt happen.

Yeah, it would have been one thing if reforming the state's relationship with Disney was something that he campaigned on. But that's not what happened, and his actions are clearly retribution, i.e. "weaponizing the government," because they dared to speak against the bigotry of one of his policies.

I thought Democrats were for wealthy companies paying their fair share?
Isn't having the wealthy "pay their fair share" a favorite cliche with Dems?

I think the electorate has changed compared to 20 years ago.
Yours is a very complex question that is above my pay grade.
I'll throw out random stuff though...
Way more voters today than 20 years ago have grown up with internet on their phones and entertainment always available.
US citizens regardless of party loyalty are simply different than 20 years ago.
This manifests itself in a "different" type of candidate.
@SFIDC3 is natually focusing on casting the Republican voters in a bad light.
Yet 20 years ago, would "the squad" have been elected and then in the next election would they have been re-elected?

    MAYBE they would have. IDK

Wake me up when "the squad" supports insurrectionists.....I don't need to focus on casting R voters in a bad light, they don't need help to do so, the actions of most of those whom they support say it all.....

This type of false equivalency is why I have zero respect for your POV.....I've been an R and a D supporter in my lifetime.....that both sides are doing it claim is BS....only one party has gone off the rails.....

DeSantis isn't going after Disney because of some greater corporate tax reform initiative, he's taking punitive actions because they dared to defy him.

Federal taxes. People care about corporations paying federal taxes.

States can do whatever they want - like Florida that has no income tax or here in Oregon we have no sales tax

you need to do a better job of quick research on a topic you want to "catch" someone on.

As pointed out above, its federal.

And to that end, take a few minutes to google what Disney pays in tax. ( it aint $0 )

And while you are at it, take a gander at their 2021 Florida state/local taxes paid.

    They pay their fair share.

    Next....

But they’re not being treated equally - DeSantis is vowing to punish Disney. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. It’s just disqualifying for a political leader to display this level of petty ego. IMO.

can you explain in what way Disney isn’t paying their fair share and how what DeSantis is doing will fix this? This is a complex issue and DeSantis is simply throwing a temper tantrum because they dared to criticize one of his pet laws publicly. That’s all they did. They didn’t oppose it, they didn’t try to stop it. They just made a toothless statement after it had been passed that they didn’t agree with it.

DeSantis is mucking up a development district that actually helps the people that live near Disney. If he gets his way, I read that local property taxes will go through the roof once Disney quits shouldering the majority of the local bill.

He looks less and less qualified to be President every day. If you are governor of a state and “declare war” on one of your biggest corporations for no real reason, you’re unfit for office.

He is probably trying to rack up fees because of this. Desantis, and Republicans were extremely disingenuous in describing what Disney's special exemption meant to the state.
