Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

Totally dishonest tweet, but it's not surprising coming from the Lincoln Project which looked the other way on Co-Founder John Weaver who was a sexual predator.

DeSantis served on active duty from 2004. He was a JAG officer and legal advisor to a SEAL commander. He graduated from Yale and the Harvard law school, just another elitist, before going on active duty in 2004. It is interesting that he could have gone into active duty with the navy perhaps in a combat zone right after 9/11 but instead he continued his elitist education.

    I just skimmed this.
It certainly would/should be helpful to DeSantis to have staff that has Presidential Campaign experience.

    How did that campaign go?

Isn't that when Trump said Cruz's wife was ugly and his dad assisted Oswald in assassinating Kennedy? And Cruz said nothing?

Did you watch the full clip? He was talking about how he (and the country) didn't have a care in the world and the towers changed his outlook, the world changed, he talked about the honor of serving your country. he was asked where he was on 9-11, said he didn't know, he 'thinks' he had just graduated college and then repeated the answer he already gave

He still failed to answer the question we all can - "where were you on September 11th?"

Failing to see what's dishonest about it

If I ask someone where they were and they reply with "that was when I lost my innocence" or "that was when I decided to join the military", or "that was the day I knew I had to grow up" I'm just wondering why you're avoiding saying where you were and what you were doing

Cruz’s campaign manager was Kellyanne Conway. Nuff said.

And DeSantis’s answer about 9/11 was a non-answer. Which means he was doing something he doesn’t want people to know about because everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing.

so how is that "owning the woke/lib disney" thing going ?

The board DeSantis appointed is now complaining that the company used a loophole to strip them of their power

I mean, who thought Disney was going to stick back and just take it. They will be around a lot longer than DeSantis. I bet he's pissed, which makes me laugh.

That some backroom, scheming, low down arse shirt Republicans are known for and would love if they weren't the receiving end.

I have one question about this agreement:

Among other things, a “declaration of restrictive covenants” spells out that the district is barred from using the Disney name without the corporation’s approval or “fanciful characters such as Mickey Mouse.”

That declaration is valid until “21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, king of England living as of the date of this declaration,” if it is deemed to violate rules against perpetuity, according to the document.

    Why that time frame?

So that DeSantis will never control Disney. Ever.

Actually I think it’s a hedge against a ruling that the “in perpetuity” timeframe is invalid. So they gave an actual timeframe, knowing that the English Royals will always have heirs to the throne.

Reading a bit more about this maneuver where Disney made a fool out of DeSantis. Evidently the vote occurred in a public forum with proper notifications, but neither DeSantis nor his hand-picked puppets for the new board were paying any attention. Which is rather telling, to me.

All DeSantis wanted was the optics of the press conference where he could crow about being the new sheriff in town to control Disney. He doesn’t really care about anything he is pretending to care about, it’s all just unbridled lust for power on his end, no interest in actually doing anything. Just posturing. He’s exactly like Trump in that regard. Just better educated.

It's going to cost Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his handpicked board nearly $1,300 per hour in legal fees to investigate how Disney found a loophole in the governor's plan to take over the company's governing rights over Disney World, stripping the new government-appointed board members of their power.

An agenda from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District's Wednesday meeting includes letters from two law firms agreeing to represent DeSantis in his fight against the entertainment giant.

The firms, Cooper & Kirk and Lawson, "will represent the District regarding certain constitutional and contract matters and potential legal challenges," according to the agenda.

Cooper & Kirk will bill the Florida government $795 per hour and Lawson bills at $495 per hour, meaning, in total, DeSantis' government will owe both firms at least $1,290 per hour for their services.

Each firm tacks on additional hundreds of dollars for any work done by legal assistants and paralegals.............

Won’t FL taxpayers foot that bill?

So, I don’t know a lot about him, but I did read that he was close to the only R willing to say the right thing about the Trump indictment: wait for the facts to come out, let the legal system work.

Democrats coalesced behind a moderate person who knows how to compromise, regardless of political “juice” or a magnetic speaking style, will Rs be adult enough to do the same?

Or will they continue to pander to extremists?

Yeah, I’m afraid history will repeat itself. Shoot, it already has, with DeSantis. I read this in an essay in The Atlantic:

“DeSantis presented himself as a fearless tough guy, as in this reelection ad from 2022, titled “Top Gov.” In a flight suit and with a B-roll of combat jets, DeSantis vowed: “Never, ever back down from a fight.”

But when Trump started fights with him, DeSantis always backed down. When Trump promoted a meme accusing DeSantis of grooming teenage girls with alcohol, DeSantis scarcely retorted. When Trump denounced one of the governor’s most cherished bills as “the biggest insurance company BAILOUT to Globalist Insurance Companies, IN HISTORY,” DeSantis did not defend his measure. He abjectly retreated, barring cameras and reporters from the signing ceremony for his new law.”

I like Asa Hutchinson's point that THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENCY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY ONE INDIVIDUAL PERSON. ...and that because of this, Donald Trump should withdraw.

Naturally Trump will not withdraw.....and Asa H's entry into the race will just make Trump's nomination more likely. There is Trump and there is a group of other options. With more non Trump candidates in the race, the anti Trump vote will get spread out .
