Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

    Trump is done.
All of your posts are wasted.
    He....is....done.
His only goal should be to not be found guilty for Jan 6th.
Legal action is being contemplated as we speak.

I'll believe it when he "hangs himself" in Epstein's cell.

Until then, he's got millions of thralls who'll keep sending him money, which means he'll never stop campaigning.

If 15 republicans are running in 2024 it's very possible Trump wins the first primary or two, then the snowball will start rolling, and if that happens watch the "Trump is done" folks fall right back in line

We've seen many, many examples of Trump surviving (and thriving) after what would have completely destroyed any other politician

So, I'm in the I'll believe it when I see it

And his backed candidates losing in the midterms doesn't count as "seeing it"

I hope he's not done until after 2024. If he's done that paves the way for DeSantis to dominate. As Optimus said, the primaries are going to be a crowded field and Trump will do extremely well in those winner-take-all scenarios. He only needs 25-30% of the vote to rake in delegates.

The Democrats are almost guaranteed to lose the Senate given the numbers/races. If there is no Democrat in the White House then it's going to be more legions of kooky judges.

If people are moving on from Trump (and I remain skeptical that A. it's happening and B. if it is happening that it's permanent) for all the reasons to move on I really think that the biggest is he just won't stop talking about 2020
    ================================

.........On Truth Social he wrote, "The FBI used Twitter and Facebook to bludgeon the 2020 Election to Biden. Nothing Negative could be said about him, especially as it related to Hunter’s Laptop From Hell, and ONLY Negative could be said about me. They were illegally after “Trump” at a level of ferocity, hate and yes, desperation, that has never been seen in our Country before. Other Media companies were involved also.

He then continued, "The change in the Election was Complete & Total, with Millions of votes switched, at least 17%. TRUMP WON, BIG!".......

Nope, not by a long shot….unless he gets a speedy trial and sentence (which I highly doubt) he is going to do his level best to destroy the R party….I wish him well in that regard because it is exactly what they deserve….Mr. Red Wave midterm…..

Trump says democrats went after him with ferocity, hate and desperation. This is classic projection …

    Donald Trump’s Republican opponents seemworried.

Many believe GOP voters are ready to move on from the former president, but we all remember the 2016 primary.

In that race, Trump had roughly 35 percent of Republican voters behind him, and multiple opponents split an anti-Trump majority. Trump won state after state — and the nomination — with just a plurality of the vote.

Trump’s foes are right to fear a repeat of 2016, but they’re thinking too small. There are so many other ways the primary could turn out badly for them.
Here are four completely speculative doomsday scenarios. None of them are likely. But they illustrate how the GOP’s problems go far beyond the potential for a divided field.

Scenario one: Trump loses, storms off and sabotages the nominee.

Trump has never been a loyal Republican. He spent years registered as a Democrat and flirted with a presidential run on the ticket of Ross Perot’s Reform Party in 2000. During the 2016 primary, he threatened to run as a third-party candidate if he lost the GOP nomination.

If the GOP snubs Trump and picks some other nominee, he might retaliate. He could run a scorched-earth primary against the winner, allege that the primaries were fraudulent, refuse to endorse the nominee or tell his supporters to stay home in November.

These gambits might not move the needle much. But we live in a polarized era of close national contests. If a hurt, petulant Trump shaved just a couple of percentage points off the Republican vote share, he could hand the Democrats another term in the White House.

Scenario two: Trump gains a weak lead — and the 2012 clown car returns.

Most anti-Trump Republicans are worried about repeating 2016. But if Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis fades, the 2012 primary could repeat itself instead……

Donald Trump, the former US president, is making a third consecutive run for the White House. But there is a job vacancy this time: his running mate. No one thinks it will be former vice-president Mike Pence after the pair fell out over the 2020 election and January 6 insurrection.

Trump, a 76-year-old straight, white man who needs to broaden his appeal, might look to a person of colour, a woman or a young person for 2024 (or all of the above) – or he might not. Here are 10 potential contenders:

    Tucker Carlson

The Fox News host turned up last summer in Iowa, which gets the first say in the Republican presidential nominating process, prompting speculation about his political ambitions. He is a Trump kindred spirit who goads liberals, appeases Russian president Vladimir Putin and promotes the far-right “great replacement” theory that western elites are importing immigrant voters to supplant white people. But Carlson would be sure to turn off moderates and independents.

    Ron DeSantis

Some “Make America Great Again” voters torn between the authentic original and his upstart rival want to see them join forces on a dream Maga ticket. Florida governor DeSantis once made a campaign ad in which he read Trump’s book about getting rich, The Art of the Deal, to one of his children and encouraged them to “build the wall” along the US-Mexico border by stacking toy bricks. But Trump has now branded him “Ron DeSanctimonious” and the pair seem too similar to run together: less yin and yang than yin and yin.

    Tulsi Gabbard

The former Democratic congresswoman and presidential candidate is attempting to launch a new career as a rightwing media personality. She campaigned for election-denier Kari Lake and other Republicans in the midterm elections. Her provocative challenges to western orthodoxy towards dictators such as Putin and Syria’s Bashar al-Assad are likely to strike a chord with Trump. He may also decide he needs a female running mate to make himself less toxic to suburban women.

    Marjorie Taylor Greene

The far-right congresswoman from Georgia personifies the age of Trumpism with racist, antisemitic and Islamophobic statements, indications of support for political violence and wild conspiracy theories such as the claim that a Jewish-controlled space laser started a California wildfire.

She recently suggested that, if she had led the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, the mob would have been armed and victorious in its efforts to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 victory (she later claimed this was “sarcasm”). She has little experience but her pugnacious campaigning style is right up Trump’s street…….

It's a veritable Who's Who of people I would like to see get stranded on an island together. Trump is the Skipper, Tucker can be Gilligan.

So, I should actually post a serious rebuttal to DeSantis, even though the above is amusing
