Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

So you agree that you're a troll who has no interest in discussing anything, preferring to have your assumptions and opinions remain unchallenged, likely because you are too fragile to handle the mildest of pushback. Cool.

He showed his colors a long time ago with his "red wave" predictions.....

He's a mess. Good lord, this country is doomed if he's President. Maybe slight exaggeration, but then, maybe not.
Nope. It’s doomed if he is re-elected. Not because of anything he will accomplish, but because the real dangers to our country (people like Bannon, Flynn, as well as a whole cadre of extremists) have really ramped up and will be right there pushing their stuff through.

not sure where to put this
    =================
Florida has blocked the College Board from testing a pilot Advanced Placement African American Studies (APAAS) curriculum in the state under Governor Ron DeSantis’ “Stop WOKE” Act. According to a letter obtained by National Review, Florida’s Department of Education’s Office of Articulation said the curriculum “is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.”

The pilot course, which has been tested at 60 schools across the United States, aims to expand the advanced coursework offered by the College Board into the study of the African diaspora in the U.S. The course has run afoul of DeSantis’ widespread ban on teaching “critical race theory” (CRT) in K-12 classrooms.

CRT is an analytical framework that seeks to dissect the manner in which racism has shaped American legal theory and institutions. The concept has been co-opted in recent years by right-wing reactionaries to fearmonger about any and all discussions of race and discrimination.................

Only if the Democrats aren't able to regain a majority in the House. If they can maintain a majority in both houses of Congress, we might have a fighting chance.

    for what it's worth
    =============
Former President Trump holds at 17-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a hypothetical GOP primary match-up, according to a new poll.

A Morning Consult poll released Wednesday showed Trump with 48 percent support among potential Republican primary voters, followed by DeSantis with 31 percent. Trump’s front-runner position differs from some polls since the November midterm elections, which have shown DeSantis closing the gap with Trump or taking a lead in some cases.

Former Vice President Mike Pence came in third with 8 percent, followed by former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) with 3 percent. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) both received 2 percent.

Trump’s support in Morning Consult polls over the past month has stayed between 45 and 50 percent, while DeSantis has hovered around 30 percent............

Maybe "Morning Consult" is biased toward Trump?
Maybe they somehow poll people who favor Trump more narrowly than other polls do?
I'm not saying that....I am asking for your opinion.

    Hard to say

Since he left office polls/opinions on how strong he is with the GOP and base have been all over the place

My opinion is never count him out. We’ve seen many “I’m done with Trump!” moments and scandals and he powered through

He’s the embodiment of “reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated”

Two things Trump has that none of his challengers possess.

    1. Charisma. I can't stand him, but then millions of people follow greasy televangelists who're patently more repellent than Trump. Dude can schmooze.
    2. Nationwide name recognition. Nobody here in timber country, Washington, gives a flying fork about DeSantis one way or the other. They lurve them some Trump though.

    YES!

DeSantis has the charisma of a moldy biscuit. Sorry, Steve, it is what it is.

    I don't find him charismatic...just annoying.
Name recognition for DeSantis is better 2 years prior to the election than it was at this same time interval for Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter.

On CNN last night someone (forget who) made an interesting comment

She said that DeSantis is Jeb Bush of 2024. People think they like him, until they get to know him. Said he has a serious charisma and likability issue that will not play well on the national stage

I loathe Trump but I'll admit to certain people he definitely has a certain charm

and name recogintion is a step but not the end all be all

National politics is littered with well known, anointed, can't lose front runners who lost
