This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

But i agree. It has never happened before in history that a medical drug had serious side effects and was withdrawn.
Has it happened before that a vaccine (based upon very similar other vaccines that have been tested and not shown serious side effects) has later on (years) shown serious side effects?

    Hey, @SteveSBrickNJ,

This is the Republican Party now and who runs it. I left them a while ago. As my father told me growing up, you are judged by the company you keep. These are the people that will dictate what laws Republican lawmakers make, not you. They take you for granted. Until the reasonable Republicans are willing to say they won’t vote for someone just because there is an R after their name, these are the people that will be elected into office. Today they go after others rights. Tomorrow they come after your “sins.”
NJ73 and I are totally different. I don't align myself with that poster. I PERSONALLY believe that there are MANY MANY normal Republicans like me. For example...I am posting this from my job. I'm too busy to read or care about wacky conspiracy garbage. I go to work Monday thru Friday. I go to church on Sunday. I care about my family. I don't say wacky stuff and I don't like Trump. I'm going to "tune in" to the various candidates once we are in the 2023 season where there are debates and stump speeches.
We (The Silent Conservative Majority) are quiet people who are too busy working and being a good family member for you to notice us. I'm here on this thread (I guess) so certain people can call me names or harass me with questions that they insist I have to answer. I'm not sure why I do it except that a poster I respect stated that he feels it is really valuable to this thread to have someone like me contribute my thoughts. So Anyway....99.99999 % of the conservative people like me in America have no idea that this forum exists. Yet they ARE out there in large numbers.
    I just can't prove it.
    Time will tell.
November mid terms will be the start.
The Iowa Caucus is way down the road and beyond that the Southern State Primaries will reveal a lot. I wish it was sooner because I have no data to support my viewpoint.
I know that is a long time from now.
What can I do?....I just have hope....maybe most people on this thread think I am clueless. Oh well :(
The SILENT MAJORITY THEORY is what I'm resting my hat on.

People conspire all the time. Not only Russians either. Your friends, neighbours, politicians and corporations. Not all people are kind. Some have an agenda they can´t tell you about and are ready to lie to manipulate your emotions so they get what they want.

Like for example through pics of Biden eating ice cream. Subconsciously many will figure Biden must then be a nice guy. Perhaps he is. Not his handlers though i bet.

But you post weird stuff that I just don't agree with. Sorry.

You've already said that if you were faced with a situation where you were voting in a close race, you wouldn't vote for the person with the best chance of defeating Trump or a Trump-like candidate. That tells me you would rather have Trump than a Democrat, and that makes you a lot closer to @nj73 than you think.

I will not be responding to cuddlemonkey.
Any time this individual quotes me or addresses me in any way I will simply ignore this poster.

You can ignore me all you want. That doesn't mean that I'm wrong or that you've somehow addressed what you are unwilling to admit: that you have fully bought into the far-right talking points. You think you're closer to the center, but you aren't. You don't actively support voter suppression or cast your vote for the extremes, but you are perfectly fine with the extreme candidates winning and enacting voter suppression. If you are ok with the end result and participate in any way in bringing it about, you don't get to wash your hands of it. You contributed to the mess but won't help clean it up.

If you don't like Trump, then it stands to reason that voting for his opponent, or not voting at all are the only 2 real alternatives you have. If the silent majority yet again votes for Trump, then the silent majority really hasn't learned anything. I'm a conservative, but Trump is not only not a conservative, he doesn't care about doing the right thing.

Yup...I will not vote for Trump. Yet it does not matter who I vote for. I am just one unimportant person. I'm interested in discussing who the nationwide Republican voters will vote for. I am hoping the (Steve labeled) Silent Majority will not vote Trump. The man with the best name recognition TODAY is Desantis. That might change eventually. For example, at first I never heard of the former Governor of Arkansas...Bill Clinton....yet he became President. A month ago there were Republican names presented to me and I dismissed them. That was wrong of me. Just like Clinton, someone COULD make a name for themselves and be the eventual nominee.

I'd rather a Kasich or Hogan. Someone who isn't a Trump butt kisser. DeSantis I really don't care for. He can stay in Florida for all I care.

I want candidates who are going to be fiscal conservatives who don't run on identity politics and marginalizing minority groups.

That's good. Yet I would interested in your opinion...if you are willing. Do you think the Democrats selected Joe Biden as their nominee because he was the finest candidate...or because they perceived him to have the best chance to beat the then sitting President? Sometimes possibly the voters are so ANTI whoever is the President at the time...well they will maybe select the person they calculate has the best chance to oust the current guy???

I thought he was a decent enough candidate. He cares about the country and while I don't agree philosophically with a lot of what he does and believes, but I think overall, he's clearly a better person than Trump and I believe he's handling the whole Russia/Ukraine conflict and working with NATO and the EU about as well as he can.

I get the mid-terms issues and how that doesn't bode well for Democrats, so that's at least partly a turnout problem. Democrats have long had issues with turnout without a Presidential candidate on the ballot. Don't think it will be any different this November.

I don’t think democrats have that sort of group think. Rs tend to be more cohesive and all, at least historically, while Democrats have all sorts of opinions and leanings. So I think most democrats actually preferred Biden over the choices that were presented.

Now did the main D candidates get together and talk it out? I don’t know. More likely than any sort of plan executed by the D voters.

There are a ton of Republicans like you. I was one of them. Pull the R no matter what. I can’t do that anymore. Look who is getting elected now. They are dangerous people like NJ73.

When Reagan was President he took extremists votes and gave them lip service for the most part. The silent majority controlled the party at that time. Now, the Republicans take your vote (silent majority) and give you lip service. (Pat Buchanan was the beginning of the crazy right flexing its muscle). “Most of us are good” does not excuse the election of the really bad and the bad are being elected by Republicans left and right. Most Germans weren’t Nazis, but because the “silent majority” did nothing and let the loons get elected, you got Hitler. Learn from history’s mistakes.

Right now the Republican leadership listens to NJ73 more than they listen to you. That should scare the hell out of you.
