Election Night (+4) in America - Result: Biden Elected President (1 Viewer)

I said it in another thread. Most Republicans were more interested in retaining the senate for this reason. We needed to reset our party and it needs to start with compassionate and honorable people.
I hope this is the case but I fear unless the GOP changes some of its internal/primary rules, we might see another misanthropic populist nominated. I.e., Tim Scott would be better than Tom Cotton.

On a side note if Biden try’s to change the scotus it will be political suicide. He needs to keep the status quo and govern as an American like he said.

This won't happen even if Democrats somehow win the GA senate seats. I don't think that's probable as well. We are looking at 4 years of more gridlock. Also, I don't know how the Republican party changes. Trump is the Republican party, and I don't see that changing. He has polled with 95% approval rating, and captured 93% of all Republican votes. I see him setting himself up as kingmaker with possibly his own media network. I predict the right continues to radicalize.

For at least a couple years here Biden's not going to have the votes in the Senate to do anything with scotus.
I think you’re going to see a different government for the next 4 years. My party didn’t have the backbone to stand up to trump. They were scared of the pushback. I’m hoping it’s different now. There are a lot of good Republican Congress people that have bright futures. In a perfect world our government would live in the middle

You are conveniently forgetting that the Republicans have ALREADY packed the courts by refusing to give Obama’s nominee a hearing with almost a year left in his term, then pushing Amy Barrett thru with less than a week til the election.. Repubs have done it to themselves, there are no rules anymore.

I agree with you I know.

But it just seems logical that a porn star raw dogging guy while his wife and newborn are in his life would automatically disqualify him for actual religious people. You know logic.

You know the exactly the same reason religious women hated Hillary for taking back her cheating husband.

But yes I get it is like an intervention trying to get minds changed.

Ah the good ol' days, back when things like that ended your political career (see Gary Hart)
    Those were simpler times

If Biden won more convincingly I could see the GOP reshuffling but the reality is Trump's numbers grew and his hardcore base makes up so much of the GOP electorate that whatever candidate panders to them will probably make it through their winner-take-all primary system. Although Trump might misstep and try to force Ivanka into the race!

I said it in another thread. Most Republicans were more interested in retaining the senate for this reason. We needed to reset our party and it needs to start with compassionate and honorable people. Hopefully the attitude can change from condescending to understanding. We can also get back to policy on both sides instead of finger pointing. We can be as strong as ever together if we want to work together.

if you want to stop receiving condescending attitudes, it starts with being completely honest.

I cant carry a conversation with someone who says one thing, but believes another, yet wont say it because they are worried about how they are perceived in that moment, 1 on 1.
Get them in a group, the dynamic changes, and they have no problem being forthright.

So I agree. Rs need folks to put down the torches and start looking to compromise.

But i think that is becoming an endangered species within the R party. Seriously.

Trump may be headed out of office, but the GOP didn't cease being his party last night. Not by a long shot.

I don't think Biden wants to do anything with SCOTUS. Not Biden the individual. Would his view change if the Court starts running roughshod over law, rights, and tradition? Maybe.

But you're right that not having the Senate keeps the Court like it is. And that's why the market was up so much today IMO.

You don’t see a lot of Republicans voting for trump you see a lot of Republicans voting against the left. There is a big difference. Trump will be an afterthought of the Republicans a year from now. He will go back to business and that’s it. The right isn’t radicalizing anymore than the left is. Let’s be honest, the Republicans think you guys want Venezuela and Soviet Union and the Democrats think we want Nazi Germany when in actuality we want normalcy. Social media and bad journalism is what creating the mess here.

why such a double standard? That should have been political suicide for Mitch, and "hold my words against me" Graham, and yet here we are. They get a pass, re-elected and yet if the other side dares to do something that makes them out to be loathsome bastages? CANCELLED

Gary Peters with a little more breathing room now at 11,000. If anyone else remembers, Al Franken won his first election over Norm Coleman by 200 or so votes.

Have you been to the panhandle of Florida man? Trump is idolized in this area, there are pop-up Trump stores everywhere. It's a push back against the left no doubt, but Republican voters around here have absolutely fallen in love with Donald Trump.

I haven't been able to follow the developments as close today because I had to work.. I saw that they called Michigan for Biden.. are there any legitimate reasons for concern in Arizona or Nevada? I know the AP called Arizona but others haven't yet.

There is still a legitimate chance for Trump to win those states, but it is very, very small.

The left hasnt hijacked the Democratic party.

The right has complete control of the Republican party.

Until you fully see this, your "come together moment" will never happen.
