    It’s so repulsive to see people cheering for what is basically 80% the same thing as the Holocaust - different end result but otherwise very similar.

    Economists have said it would tank the economy and cause inflation - notwithstanding the cost.

    Is it going to actually happen or is this Build The Wall 2.0?

    Just reading about some of that today. Some of this is also happening in Michigan and directed towards pro-Palestine student protestors

ICE is unlawfully using student status terminations to coerce students to give up their studies and leave the country without any meaningful process or opportunity to challenge what’s happening."

    The group noted that there are two factors at play: the visas, which are issued by the State Department, and their student status, which is monitored by the Department of Homeland Security.

    "While their visas were apparently revoked as part of a new policy of the administration, the lawsuits explain that visas are distinct from status and that visa revocation alone does not constitute grounds for ending student status under the law," the group said.

    In a statement on Wednesday, USCIS said that it will start “considering aliens’ antisemitic activity on social media and the physical harassment of Jewish individuals as grounds for denying immigration benefit requests”.

    The new guidelines will apply to individuals applying for permanent resident status, international students and aliens affiliated with “educational institutions linked to antisemitic activity”.

    “There is no room in the United States for the rest of the world’s terrorist sympathizers, and we are under no obligation to admit them or let them stay here,” said Tricia McLaughlin, the Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary for public affairs.


    “Secretary [Kristi] Noem has made it clear that anyone who thinks they can come to America and hide behind the First Amendment to advocate for anti-Semitic violence and terrorism – think again. You are not welcome here,” McLaughlin added.

    The latest announcement – which comes amid the Donald Trump administration’s growing crackdown on protesters demonstrating against Israel’s deadly war on Gaza – has prompted criticism from several advocacy organizations and progressive Jewish groups viewing the news as part of a campaign to repress legitimate speech under the guise of fighting hate.…….

    Oh great, so now antisemitic posts will finally get you denied a visa — cool. Now, just waiting on the part where anti-Muslim, anti-Latino, anti-LGBTQ+, and misogynistic rants get the same treatment. Or is bigotry only a problem when it’s directed at one group? If they really cared about democracy and human rights, they’d be cracking down across the board. But hey, consistency has never been this government’s strong suit.

    Not the government, but rather, people. The government can be objective and fair if you have objective and fair people running it.

    The Trump administration is reportedly canceling the Social Security numbers of immigrants who came to the U.S. legally and adding their identities to a closely guarded Social Security database tracking deaths.

    The move, treating the individuals as if they had literally died in the eyes of the government, is the latest in the administration’s larger campaign to revoke the status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants who got temporary authorization to remain in the U.S. under the Biden administration.

    In recent weeks, the administration has pulled the status of hundreds of thousands of migrantsfrom Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who were granted temporary legal status, while stripping protections from potentially around one million people who entered the U.S. legally using a Border Patrol app while they awaited asylum claims.

    The Social Security effort, reportedly initiated at the request of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, has a goal of making sure the “financial lives” of the targeted immigrants are “terminated,” Social Security Administration acting commission Leland Dudek said in an email obtained by The New York Times.

    Homeland Security agents attempted to enter 2 LAUSD schools. Here's what families should know
    Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said at a press conference Thursday that the Department of Homeland Security’s presence sowed fear among educators and the surrounding community.

    • School employees asked for identification. When staff tried to take information down, agents pocketed their IDs and refused to allow staff to write down names and badge numbers.
    • The agents said they had permission from students’ guardians to enter the school and asserted they had the right to enter the school. Per Carvalho: "We've spoken with the caretakers of these children, in some cases, parents, and they deny any interaction with these entities and certainly deny providing authorization for these individuals."
    • The principals of each school denied the agents entry and contacted the district’s legal department.
    • The agents left.
