I haven't been able to look into this, but stumbled on it. What's the story here? I'm not a fan of open carry in this way. That has never been the intent of open carry, that I'm aware of. And masks? Granted, it is cold, but still..

I really don't think that is the case Jim. We have limits on the first amendment, why is the second so sacred we can't even mention any legislation without people going crazy?
My cousin lives in Richmond, she is pretty liberal and works in DC. Below is what she told me about her thoughts on the issue last night.

"I don't understand why it's not clear... I don't want their guns, I just want them to pass a background check to make sure they aren't psychotic or a domestic abuser... and that they can't massacre people in school and concerts with machine guns... I don't know what's so radical about that"

So you know that Northam fabricated warnings from his state police that there were possibles attacks planned?

I'd think that those attending the rally would appreciate the stepped up security and concern for their well being, but I guess not in today's divided America.

The three bills I read would require background checks on all sales. Allow guns to be confiscated from wife beaters and others making public credible threats. And lastly only allow one handgun purchase a month.

The peacefulness could have something to do with the arrest of three white supremacists who were threatening to go and do violence. Maybe. Or it could have something to do with a really large and impressive police presence. Lessons learned from last time, IMO.

Well, we are less than two weeks into the legislative session, and since we are talking about proposed legislation it is a moving picture, but so far there have been drafts of legislation that would restrict the purchase and possession of "assault weapons" (which has been so broadly defined as to include weapons with the capacity of holding magazines with more than 10 rounds), a person's ability to train at ranges (which actually reads more like a way to acquire the names of people training), the ability of people under the age of 18 to defend themselves in their own homes, require weapons to be transported in a manner that they are not accessible and more.

You can track the legislation as it is introduced and modified by the VA house and senate if you like.

Oppression and police violence.

If recent events like the Malheur takeover have taught us anything it's that if you want to protest in America and you don't fancy losing your teeth, come armed. Come heavily and visibly armed and the police will treat you with kid gloves.
