This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

She shouldn't have said this, not cool

But GOP can stop with the pearl clutching

This wouldn't even crack the top 10 of what Trump and other GOP have said (and probably just in the past week)

This is why I think there is a section of Republicans that are looking forward to the end of Trump as well.

No one else in the Republican Party can survive in a national election.
    JD can’t.
MTG will never even get the nomination.

She may be telling the truth but this sounds awfully similar to right wing explanations when they get caught saying something
    ================

Rep. Jasmine Crockett is refusing to apologize for calling wheelchair-bound Texas Governor Greg Abbott ‘Hot Wheels’ despite immense backlash and threats of congressional censure.

The progressive Texas Democrat released a statement following the uproar Tuesday, stating she “wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition” and insisted it was not a jibe about Abbott being differently abled.

“At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she said.

She argued her comments were a reference to the “planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants” in blue states.

Not the fact that Abbott, 67, uses a wheelchair……

Hey, fork the Republicans. I think Crockett meant it directly as an insult to Abbott. After all, Trump insulted a reporter who had a disability. Republicans are snowflakes who can only dish out nonsense but that whine like little babies when confronted.

    Good for Jasmine Crockett.

They called Michelle Obama a man for 8 years.

What is this outrage? It's a hilarious insult to a huge Peice of work. This dude made it impossible to ever sue for the same payout he got from his accident.

He deserves zero empathy from anyone on this planet.

Abbott can fork all the way off. Insult away and flame him to a crisp, he deserves it and so much more

So does MAGA and GOP, let them have it

I had zero problem with Crockett's 'bad built butch body' comment to MTG (which is what put Crockett on the map, can't say I'd heard of her before that)

If someone had said something racist to Byron Donalds or Candace Owens (both of whom I can't stand) I'd have a problem with it

I have a problem with this. Not that Abbott was insulted, but I think the Hot Wheels comment wasn't necessary

Yeah, it was low hanging fruit.

The emergence of anti-social media and the conversion of the Republican Party into the home for racism, misogyny and xenophobia has caused politics to become psychotic. And it is all or damn near all on the shoulders of the Right.

And Abbott can fork off all the way to to Forkoffistan.

She didn't come up with that by herself. Abbot has been known as "Governor Hot Wheels" for a while down here in Texas. It is a low hanging fruit dig at him being in a wheel chair, but is has a lot more to do with the way he runs over peoples rights, especially women, minorities and surprise, surprise, people who are differently abled (like himself). It's also a dig at the way he makes a spectacle/show of his pet projects like the border enforcement and now school vouchers. Also the way he rushed to make a show when the Uvalde massacre first occurred, but then did absolutely nothing to bring accountability. All he did was protect the state troopers. Abbot has garnered a lot of hate and vile by willing to prostrate himself at the feet of Trump/MAGA. In other words, it really has nothing to do with him being in a wheel chair.

Criticism from people within the differently abled community is understandable. Anybody form the rightwing complaining, including Abbot, can go blow rocks.

DeSantis is blaming the candidate, not me or T’s fault….no way it could be a reflection of the job that they are doing:

Yeah they already told Stefanik to go back to the House. I assume their internal polling is horrible.

These special elections are all ruby red districts too.

Wasn’t sure where to put this
    ==============
The Senate voted early on Thursday to overturn a rule that limited most bank overdraft fees to $5 — and was set to save Americans billions of dollars annually.

It was a nearly party-line vote, 52 to 48, with Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri being the only Republican to oppose the measure. The resolution is now set to move on to the House. Arkansas Republican Rep. French Hill introduced a parallel resolution in February, The New York Times noted.

The rule, which was enacted by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau last year, would have restricted the fees that banks and credit unions are able to charge when customers spend more than they have in their accounts. It’s usually $35 per overdraft. The CFPB estimated that it would have saved Americans roughly $5 billion a year. Banking trade groups were quick to challenge the rule in the courts.…….

A lawsuit plaintiff, the American Bankers Association, celebrated the Senate’s action.

“If implemented, the C.F.P.B.’s 11th-hour rule imposing government price controls would force many banks to limit or eliminate overdraft protection as we know it,” chief executive Rob Nichols claimed, according to The Times.

“Many Americans would be driven to less regulated and higher risk non-bank lenders to cover unexpected or emergency expenses,” he added.

Meanwhile, consumer advocates argued that the removal of the rule would allow banks and credit unions to charge higher fees than what the service actually costs them.

Consumer Reports advocacy program director Chuck Bell said that, “Repealing the C.F.P.B.’s overdraft fee limits will hurt working families who are already struggling with high prices and inflation.”………
