What happens to the Republican Party now? (2 Viewers)

This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

And they are completely correct. All they have to do is prevent the D's from passing any meaningful legislation and they will be right back in power in 4 years. The R's have played the long game for the past 40 years and it is finally paying off. They have a much easier road to power than the left does.

Not really. It won’t take much to solidify the Democratic majorities. We all know the economy will be better in a year. If the Democrats can steer clear of getting tagged with defunding the police (an idea which in parts has merit) and the whole LGBTQ bathroom issue which I see brewing up again (no matter that bill was introduced under trump by a Republican) and pass some meaningful whatever to give people in the rust belt area some hope for the future it will be a Democratic shoo in.
Also, Texas isn’t all that far away. If Biden makes a meaningful structural difference in immigration (path tho citizenship for DACA, things like that) it will solidify the Democratic base and as long as Texas keeps actively poaching large companies from California, and bringing the Democratic voters with them, Texas going blue isn’t as far off as many think. With that the Republican Party would be done in its current format. Well that and as the boomer generation continues to die off

I hope that you are correct. But don't underestimate the R's ability to trick people into believing that any success Biden has is only because Trump did such a great job and we are only now reaping the benefits.

I believe Biden has a very difficult re-election in 4 Years.

So long as Joe doesn't actually fall in the same trap as Obama, and waste a ton of time trying to woo the likes of Susan Collins. Democrats may do well in midterms despite the normal trend of the president's party getting clobbered.

I still don't know what's going to happen with Republicans. Mitch has clearly had enough of the Q-anon crazies.

I'll also add, one overall strategy not being talked about here. The MTG vote is less about stripping her from committees really, and more about getting Republican votes on the record supporting her. Democrats plan on running on 2022 with the idea of the Republican party is the Q-anon party.

My understanding is that budget reconciliation can only be used once per session. This session it could potentially be used twice because it wasn’t used at all last session. I may be remembering this wrong, but this is what I recall reading somewhere.

IMO, the Dems have already succeeded in getting the R's to embrace the Qrazies when they held the vote on Cheney and supported MTG. There's no need for the D's to hold this vote on the floor because the resulting vote will lead to the inevitable party line vote.

I seem to remember Pelosi calling out multiple members of her caucus when they allegedly crossed lines, it's not her responsibility to hold MTG to account, it's her caucus' responsibility. After the meeting the McCarthy held Tuesday night, they choose to embrace her and that is on them.
