This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

I just said social justice warrior. There is nothing with the term.

Stop dodging the question. You said:

"SJWs deserve all the negatives they get, they are nuts."

Does that apply to all people who wear that label? Does it apply to people who hold to the principles but don't use the label?

Social justice is fine. However, some unsavory characters give social justice a bad name.

    You're getting closer. You said:

Social justice people can be aggressive, loud, vulgar, angry, intolerant, and intransigent. That only applies to a minority. I have no problems with old fashion SJWs like Teddy Kennedy.

Then why paint with such a broad brush? How does that contribute to a meaningful discussion?

Is there a counter to this thread “What happens to the Democrat Party now?” I don’t come to this board often enough to have a familiarity with all threads, but given Manchen, Sinema, Pelosi, and AOC, some interesting days might just be ahead for the party, and I want to read the thoughts of the crowd.

Certainly worthy of its own thread. As a quick take, I believe Pelosi has promised she will step down as Speaker within two years (assuming the Democrats still control the house). Sinemi has lost the plot and is more interested in making fashion statements than governing. AOC should be put in a rocket and fired into the Sun. Manchin is just your average good-ol-days politician. Mostly harmless.

There should be one after the 2022 mid terms for sure.

…….This not exactly a new refrain. Republicans have been accusing Democrats of instituting socialism in the United States for nearly a century.

As noted by historian Kevin Kruse, as far back as 1952 President Harry S. Truman was already complaining that socialism was “a scare word they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years” — including Social Security, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, agricultural price supports and other New Deal programs.

When in 1955 Democrats proposed a federal program to vaccinate all schoolchildren with the new polio vaccine, Kruse writes that Oveta Culp Hobby, a Texas millionaire serving in President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s Cabinet, objected: “That’s socialized medicine by the back door, not the front door.”

Naturally, Medicare and Medicaid were also denounced as “socialized medicine,” even though Republicans now pledge to protect both programs. What became known as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was described by segregationists as “the Socialists’ Omnibus Bill of 1963.” And so on.

All of this raises some obvious questions that Republicans never seem to ask themselves: If the United States has been traveling down the road to socialism for 90 years, how come we’ve never arrived at our destination and still have a flourishing capitalist economy?

And what makes them think that every Democratic bill will finally usher in a Marxist nightmare?…….

Socialism is bad OP. There is no other way around that.
Social programs paid by capitalists are OK. It prevents revolution and no one wants a revolution.

My first time logging in to this site in a couple of months- but i just came here to see if there’s been any talk about this moronic phrase “Let’s Go Brandon!”…. I didnt see a thread on it, but oh my god what a breathtakingly stupid thing this is.. These MAGA/right wing lunatic fringe types - and yes i am 100% calling them out, and calling them names- they thing they’re SO ***damn clever , that instead of saying “ **** Joe Biden” they can utter this stupid phrase that originated from a NASCAR race (easy to google the origin if you dont know), yet they come across as 4th graders who discovered pig Latin or something.. It’s hilarious b/c every time they talk about Let’s Go Brandon, they think theyre being clever, when in fact it reveals them to be complete arses who cant come up with anything better… Losers, every last one of them, and i hope they keep it up so we know exactly what type of morons we’re dealing with .

Actually they think it is funny. And they think this funnier when people melt over it, especially when it is the media

Democrats need to not put forth white men any longer. Their winning strategy has been to decry racism and sexism when someone opposes their leader or candidate. Can’t do that with Biden in charge.

Even funnier was how they tried to pull it on Youngkin and his voters, who also just elected a Black lieutenant governor and Hispanic attorney general.

Youngkin won for one reason, and one reason only: Because he distanced himself from the Obese Orange Toddler in Mar A Lago… That’s it.
