This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

It possibly does not take away from the point of your post, but Google states that Speaker Johnson is a Baptist.

Thanks for the correction. He is a radical Baptist at that, some of the stuff he was trying to do in LA is utter and total madness.....these folks don't belong in government.....it's supposed to be freedom for all religion, not just Christian.....totally lost on those folks....he thinks Church and State should be one.....Totally UnAmerican....

The GOP is just totally anti-American now.

At first, I thought he was being sarcastic about what he sees as being falsely accused of wanting to overthrow American democracy, but then he sincerely leaned right into being serious about wanting to overthrow American democracy.

Don't be fooled by the arrogant chuckling and smile, he and others are deadly serious about wanting to overthrow American democracy and replacing it with a cruel and unforgiving authoritarian theocracy.

I posted this in another thread but it really appears to sum things up about today's GOP

........Granza said of Rufo that “he doesn’t care about convincing the other side, or battling in the ‘marketplace of ideas’. He’s going to tell you what he’s going to do, and then do it, whether you agree with him or not.”

Granza added: “That’s what I believe conservatives should do: use whatever power they have or can get and impose their views on to society.”…….

This is the butt crevasse who posted a picture of an innocent man and claimed he was the one who shot people at the KC Super Bowl parade.
