This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

Educators are just now finding out how bad the "work at home" was for school kids. We have a group that were in kinder for the 2020 - 2021 school year. We call them the COVID Kinder. They are crazy behind now. It is really sad, and so unnecessary.
It really depends. If you're talking HS and college, the outcomes were different than those in elementary and middle school. And certainly in college, doing school from home works. Colleges have been successfully offering online classes for years and there's really not much drop-off compared to in class learning.

It's not for everyone though. Some need the structure of a classroom. But not the case for me. I've taken numerous classes online and prefer that to a classroom. I also prefer setting my own schedule and running things. For most of my career, I was self-employed and ran my own business. I can see the benefits and drawbacks of a lack of classroom learning. Some families adapted, others not so much.

Yes, college students are different from kindergarten students.

Right now, the only ones who are not behind are the top students who can learn on their own. If we are unable to catch the others up, the knowledge gap between the truly educated, college ready students and the barely managed to graduate students will grow exponentially.

Aw, Boo-Flipping-hoo! Are you for real or are you doing a satire of people who talk like that?

    "No greater oppression." :haha-rire-395:

How about being smuggled across the border as an early teen child and sold into prostitution or child labor? Is that "almost" as great an oppression as the greatest oppression possible, which is - of course - being "labeled?"

We call them that so we dont' have to say "the kids who started kinder during COVID" every time we plan. We prefer to use our time planning ways to help those victims of the shutdowns to coming up with "non-oppressive" ways to refer to them.

Sounding so angry and bitter when you call someone else an angry and bitter person turns your post into unintentional self-parody.

    Plus that label oppresses me.

    Help, help, I'm being oppressed!

Like I stated before, you are no educator.

He's mad...at a lot of things. His angst fuels him. So he hears something on one of his preferred media, says hmmm yeah why is that and then runs to his message boards to start parroting.

Here is what I find fascinating.. I have a client (husband and wife) both are educators. They. Just. Like. Him. It's quite astounding and terrifying that educators hold this pent up anger at some of the most trial aspects of life. Curious how they arrived there. Everything, and I mean everything, to them is either wrong or a scam.

    Unless it's Trump related.

I think you're right, and I think it's related to how Trump supporters and a litany of adherents to Alt-right ideology/and claims that don't do well on well-moderated message boards.

A lot of the MO of Trump supporters is outrage porn regarding outgroups who are (generally) not straight, male, white, or older: POC, homosexuals, women, Democrats, etc; most recent, it's the FBI and other conspiracy theorists have gone as far as demonize and de-humanize prominent Democrats as pedophiles or Lizard people. There is literally no bottom for some of these people. I guess we can add mid-level federal workers to the list.

It's literally impossible to have a logical, fact-based, civil conversation with somebody just wanting to spread outrage porn, or the latest outrage-de-jour of Trump supporters or any Alt-Right supporters. Because when presented with facts, reason, logic, or evidence that contradicts their claim (in this example it was a FEDERAL WORKER HIMSELF), the lack of empathy or engagement in good-faith debate tactics will always end up with a Trump supporter--behaving like Trump himself.

Which brings me back to Trump supporters who post on this message board: this board is clearly moderated closely and values quality, fact-based discussion. Trump himself is a terrible human being and chronic liar. Trump couldn't tell the truth if his toungue were notarized. Trump also resorts to petty insults and name-calling. Now, I've been guilty of those things on this board and others, so I'm saying one side of the political aisle is perfect, but it just seems that after a few weeks or months, desperate Trump supporters show their true colors by expressing their disdain for whatever outgroup they're angry at that particular time.

So my point is that I don't think many Trump supporters would last long here debating in good faith because they believe a pathological, narcissistic, liar who lacks empathy and the ability to debate and discuss things in good faith with a modicum of civility.

So I'm not surprised that the latest Trump supporter posting here has made an utterly vile post that insults one of our female members and is a good example of the misogyny that plagues their ranks...

Because, of course . . . it's all about me.
You insult people and demean them, and when they object you act like you’re an innocent victim. What a complete crock of shirt. Quit pretending people are picking on you for any other reason than that you post butt crevasse posts.

Are you saying that nobody but me ever initiates a personal attack on this forum?

You and @MT15. I wasn't hiding it from y'all, I assumed you would know I meant you and she.

    I await your correction.
Correcting your complete dishonesty about current events isn’t trying to fix you. Good lord, you think pretty damn highly of yourself don’t you? 🤦‍♀️
Here's one: nobody on here, to my knowledge, has referred to me by any female pronoun. I'm a cisgender male.
you’re the second poster he has misgendered. IMO he does it as an insult. The last time it was LA-LA after they had a discussion where they both told their genders.

I'm not used to a forum where nearly all the posters are liberal. It really makes it hard to tell what gender someone is, so my mistake was to guess at it. Are you sure that it was La La that I misgendered? If it's the one I'm thinking about, it was not a deliberate misgendering, the word she just slipped out. Probably while I was doing voice to text.

Was he the one who told me that I knew the chromosomes of another poster? Maybe that was someone else. I should just probably address all of you generically, instead of trying to keep track of who is who. Maybe that will stop some of the anger around here.

Nobody is angry as far as I am aware. Please stop gaslighting people.

Another George Santos. That makes 3 current Rs - Santos, Luna and now this guy:

It's weird, I don't usually vote for people's past. Not sure why a politician would need to fabricate their history. I get people look for creds but really, unless you have a criminal history, I don't see a need to embellish.

But I guess this goes on more often than we like to admit. I've had friends who like to embellish stories from their past, so seeing politicians do it I guess isn't surprising.

That's a lot of words (but good ones, mind you) to say Trumpers gonna Trump......

I love a Texas state employee with their summer's off to get drunk and go defend the border telling a person who works a much more technically advanced and difficult job where they should do it. You drive a van for a living and take four kids to the zoo. I dated a SE teacher.

Texas is #35th in education. Maybe if you got to work on lesson plans instead of making shirt up in the internet your kids might have a chance of not working at one of those shirtty jobs.

I can't understand, if the job performance is being met, why does it matter where its being done from? Some people just HATE change, regardless if its for the better. This is the way its always been done, and dang nab it, thats the way its gonna be!
I know people who hate that most of us here work 4-10's. Te same amount of work is getting done, the plant is still just as operational as it was when we worked 5-8's, but they still lobby to go back to it. Luckily they higher mangmt isn't convinced by some of the lower mangmt who, by the way are salary and take off whenever they need/want, but some people don't like change..

The Republican Party is facing ridicule after tweeting, then deleting an image of the wrong flag in celebration of the Fourth of July.

The @GOP Twitter account shared an image that appeared to feature two Liberian flags on Tuesday morning alongside the message, "247 years ago, our forefathers told Ol' King George to get lost! Happy Independence Day from the GOP!"

The tweet was quickly deleted after Twitter users pointed out the mistake. While the flag of Liberia resembles the U.S. flag and features a series of red and white stripes, the flag of the West African country is distinguished by the presence of a single white star on a blue background.

A subsequent Independence Day tweet from the Republican Party did not mention the mistaken flag but featured an image of a sparkler in front of the actual U.S. flag and the message, "thank you to all the men and women in uniform who continue to defend our freedom at home and abroad."

Despite the @GOP account deleting its original tweet, screen captures of the tweet were preserved and re-shared by multiple users, accompanied by a range of comments mercilessly mocking the Republicans over the mistake..........

You're simply parroting anti-government talking points.

Why lead with that, Dave, if you are honestly interested in an adult conversation?

I could respond to every statement you make with "that sounds like a ________ talking point." That would be a true statement, but meaningless in a discussion.
