This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

When Iowa lawmakers voted last week to roll back certain child labor protections, they blended into a growing movement driven largely by a conservative advocacy group.

At 4:52 a.m., Tuesday, the state’s Senate approved a bill to allow children as young as 14 to work night shifts and 15 year-olds on assembly lines.

The measure, which still must pass the Iowa House, is among several the Foundation for Government Accountability is maneuvering through state legislatures.

The Florida-based think tank and its lobbying arm, the Opportunity Solutions Project, have found remarkable success among Republicans to relax regulations that prevent children from working long hours in dangerous conditions. And they are gaining traction at a time the Biden administration is scrambling to enforce existing labor protections for children.

The FGA achieved its biggest victory in March, playing a central role in designing a new Arkansas law to eliminate work permits and age verification for workers younger than 16. Its sponsor, state Rep. Rebecca Burkes (R), said in a hearing that the legislation “came to me from the Foundation [for] Government Accountability.”

“As a practical matter, this is likely to make it even harder for the state to enforce our own child labor laws,” said Annie B. Smith, director of the University of Arkansas School of Law’s Human Trafficking Clinic.

“Not knowing where young kids are working makes it harder for [state departments] to do proactive investigations and visit workplaces where they know that employment is happening to make sure that kids are safe.”

That law passed so swiftly and was met with such public outcry that Arkansas officials quickly approved a second measure increasing penalties on violators of the child labor codes the state had just weakened.

In Missouri, where another child labor bill has gained significant GOP support, the FGA helped a lawmaker draft and revise the legislation, according to emails obtained by The Washington Post.

The FGA for years has worked systematically to shape policy at the state level, fighting to advance conservative causes such as restricting access to anti-poverty programs and blocking Medicaid expansion……

They are not even trying to hide the fact that their "go-to" move is to subvert democracy every time they don't like what others say or how they vote.

    They don’t care

“oh no! The people we hate are killing themselves”

This is what is maddening to me... the Republicans don't even care anymore, and neither do any (well, very many) registered Republicans who just shrug off things like expelling Democratic Party members for things like talking out of turn or saying something they don't like. For trying to change rules that have stood for one hundred years or more to thwart the voters trying to change state constitutions. For refusing to hold a SC hearing because an election is coming up within a year. For whitewashing a violent insurrection at the US Capitol. I mean, these are big things and they don't care and neither do rank-and-file conservatives. Anything to pwn the libs is fine by them. We're doomed unless a few of them come to their senses.

And I'll be much less likely to object if liberals decide for a little payback if/when the time comes that we become the supermajority.

and there will be much howling and pearl clutching that they've never seen such corruption and injustice

Perfect example of what V-Chip is talking about:

That whole judiciary committee on the Democrats side needs to be revamped with younger members of Congress. They're just wasting Biden's time and the opportunity to bring some sanity to the judiciary in this country. You don't get anywhere playing nice with Republicans. Durbin needs to go and so does Feinstein 🤬. Either get things done or get out of the way.

She gets it!!! I would say it's up to the DNC to paint this picture for those that don't "get it" but they have already lost the propaganda fight to the Republicans by failing to understand the GOP's plan.

The Dems can no longer use the press to get their message across because of the GOP, what they NEED to do is publicly call them out on this on the floor of the House and Senate. They need to let it be known the D's understand the GOP's actual agenda is to undo all the gains we have made as a society and return us to an age when the 19th Amendment and the 1966 Civil Rights Act didn't exist.

not only that, but then claiming insurrection like behavior by them

It’s the third time in the last five weeks — and one of at least four times this year — that Republicans have attempted to compare disruptive but nonviolent protests at state capitols to insurrections
