This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

What Republican policy will reduce inflation? I don't care if people "think" they will. I want to know the policy that will decrease inflation.
    Something, something, Keystone XL pipeline

    Something, something, Keystone XL pipeline
I have yet to hear any real plan for reducing inflation. The only "plans" I have heard from Republicans are:

    1. Overturn Roe v. Wade.
    2. Criminalize abortion in almost all situations (in some instances even requiring the woman to go forward when her life is in danger).
    3. Outlaw kids seeing a drag show.
    4. Don't teach kids that the civil war was about keeping slaves.
    5. Outlaw transgenders and prosecute their parents.
    6. Guns for everyone!
    7. Get rid of doors, unless it is a Supreme Court Justice's house, then get outraged!
    8. Drill baby drill!
    9. Keystone!
    10. Outlaw birth control.
    11. Block any investigation of the insurrection because it makes them look bad.
    12. Prayer in school.

In short, Republicans want to tell you what to do, but they do not want you telling them what to do. That is what passes as Republican "policy" today.

    you forgot:

    13. refuse to raise minimum wage, then complain that people are lazy and don't want to work.
    14. give a massive tax cuts to billion dollar companies and multi-millionaires thinking it'll have a trickle-down effect

    also:

And since nobody on the right commented on this when I posted it in its own thread - including the OP - I will re-post here.

You talk about economics. That alone shows you know not of what you speak. Economics isn’t a monolith that is binary, there are a multitude of different aspects. Inflation being onez

If the Dems are so bad at “economicss” why are democrat states doing better? California is the healthiest state, and the US would collapse without it. Bluest state of all.

Eta- To put that budget surplus into perspective, Louisiana’s BUDGET is $38 Billion, so California could buy Louisiana’s year three times over with their overrun.

I'd be happy to vote for a Republican that wasn't a Trump lackey. But as we've seen, people like Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, Chris Sununu, or Ben Sasse would get about 5% of the vote max in the GOP primary. Polls still show Trump handily winning with 50% or more of the vote. Next up is Desantis, a Trump proxy who does nothing but wage the culture war and tries to 'stick it to the libs.' I don't think I've ever seen the man articulate an economic policy because he's too busy pandering to the far right.

I don't care how badly the Democrats wreck the economy, I am not voting for an unhinged maniac that attempted to overthrow the government of this country and still insists the election was stolen without a shred of evidence.

    Happy Sunday to you @SaulGoodmanEsq
I hope your weekend has been a good one.
You are thinking far ahead because the "unhinged maniac" you refer to will not be on the ballot this November 2022.
Yet after looking at your poll you've posted showing Trump #1 , DeSantis #2 and everyone else far behind.....I do wish to plant a "seed of hope". Here is my attempt at positive thinking....
MAYBE we can look to history and make a hopeful analogy?
We are 2 years and 5 months from the Nov. 2024 Presidential election
I would image that 2 years and 5 months before William J Clinton and Barack Obama were elected....well I bet THEIR name recognition and their poll numbers were incredibly low as well.
COULD IT BE POSSIBLE that someone good will emerge from seemingly nowhere and Trump will not represent the GOP in Nov. of 2024?

Not to mention the blue city of New York.

Certainly possible but I still contend that Trump's grip on the GOP is far stronger than any other President who lost their reelection bid. And the unfortunate reality of primaries is that you usually only need 30% or more in a crowded field to consistently rake in the delegates.

    Very good point

    Interesting article on 24
    ==================
One day last month, Mike Pence secretly huddled with some of Michigan’s top donors, including the kingmaking DeVos family, as he pitched his vision for the Republican Party before flying to Georgia to campaign against former president Donald Trump’s choice for governor.

Tom Cotton, the Republican senator from Arkansas, has developed a long PowerPoint presentation about how previous candidacies for president failed — and has shown it to donors and others during meetings on how he would run a successful campaign.
Advisers and allies of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, meanwhile, have discussed the margins for his 2022 reelection that would help put him in position to run for president in 2024 — aiming to beat the three percentage point margin that separated Trump and President Biden in the state in 2020.

With months to go before the midterm elections, the shadow campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination is well underway, with at least 15 potential candidates traveling the country, drawing up plans, huddling with donors or testing out messages at various levels of preparation.

The quadrennial circus — described by more than 20 people with direct knowledge who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private machinations — has kicked into gear despite the public hints from Trump that he too plans to join the scrum “a third time.”

Interviews with over a dozen GOP operatives indicate he is not clearing the field, and a range of candidates plan to take him on from different angles.
“They’re all going to run against him,” said Tony Fabrizio, Trump’s longtime pollster. “If you have the former vice president running, what does that say for the loyalty argument?”…….

    ........................................snip..........................................
COULD IT BE POSSIBLE that someone good will emerge from seemingly nowhere and Trump will not represent the GOP in Nov. of 2024?
As a nonbeliever I generally don't pray, but for this I'll make an exception.

To Republicans, it’s not just Trump. It’s DeSantis, it’s Abbott, it’s Noem (sp?), it’s Tom Cotton, it’s Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, Josh Hawley, MTG, and on and on. Why?

How long must I endure you folks?
    1) 6 months ago I said the Dems will get clobbered in Nov....and I'm correct. Even Dem. leadership concedes that.
    2) For months I've been saying that Trump will not be the GOP nominee....now recently I posted an article from the NY Times that states that numerous Republicans are working together to make sure that Trump will not be the nominee.
    3) For months I've been saying it would be a really bad idea for the Dems to allow Biden to run again. Recently I posted an article showing many Dems in power agree with that.
    4) Now I'm asking you to believe that most regular NORMAL Republican voters like me want our governmental structure to stay the same.
It might be entertaining to you weirdo liberals to focus on a handful of people and project that onto all the Republican voters across the nation....but that is just you being stuck in your self affirming forum bubble...you are throwing out stupid stuff and then your forum friend gives it a thumbs up.
    Knock it off!
Steve is correct on #1, 2 and 3 above and normal people will say that normal Republicans would never want an Autocracy.
Gosh....I really should stop looking at all posts from crazy people.
    Bye

So imo, you are out of line Steve. You are calling me crazy and a weirdo. You owe me an apology and the respect I have shown you.

You don’t have to endure this forum at all - you’re not required to be here.

Your predictions haven't come true yet.

Those aren't hard predictions to make, i would have made all those same predictions the day Biden was sworn in to office. Biden shouldn't even have been the nominee in 2020.

That doesn't mean the Republican party is in good shape. MTG & Bobert still being in Congress is all the sign you need of that. There isn't anything equivalent to her from the other side. If you bring up the squad it will just show your prejudiced, because the squad all graduated high school.
