This election nonsense by Trump may end up splitting up the Republican Party. I just don’t see how the one third (?) who are principled conservatives can stay in the same party with Trump sycophants who are willing to sign onto the TX Supreme Court case.

We also saw the alt right types chanting “destroy the GOP” in Washington today because they didn’t keep Trump in power. I think the Q types will also hold the same ill will toward the traditional Republican Party. In fact its quite possible that all the voters who are really in a Trump personality cult will also blame the GOP for his loss. It’s only a matter of time IMO before Trump himself gets around to blaming the GOP.

There is some discussion of this on Twitter. What do you all think?

    Sounds about right
    ===============

The former Breitbart editor, far-right commentator and conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has a new title: summer intern for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)……:

Greene, an outspoken right-wing promoter of conspiracy theories, has in the past praised conversion therapy, a disproved practice that attempts to repress or reverse the sexuality of gay and lesbian individuals. Yiannopoulos told the right-wing religious publication LifeSite News last year that he was now “ex-gay.”

He attached a photo of a congressional intern identification badge, on top of a Louis Vuitton bag, showing he is an intern in Greene’s office.

Child, he's still gay honey. Just a forked up gay that hates gays.

    That doesn't go away.

From the perspective of someone who spent half his life at a fundamentalist Christian school, Christianity seems far more intertwined with political extremism than it ever was 20-30 years ago. That probably contributes to the hostility people feel toward Christianity in all forms, which in turn facilitates the perception among Christians that they're discriminated against.

Plus, the more Christianity becomes intertwined with the far right, the more they embrace the culture of victimhood that fox news sells them every night (for example, victimhood = responding to a video of Christian fascists actually talking about taking specific rights away with vague gripes about how Christians hypothetically could be discriminated against on this board, while offering precisely zero examples of it).

It isn't fair to be reflexively hostile to any religion, but Christians need to understand why people associate the religion with the political extremism it has largely embraced. Also, it is probably challenging for Christians to quote Jesus while the political party they tend to embrace acts nothing like him.

    This....all day long.....

I had 2 good friends (one who taught me how to play guitar and is uber talented) that at some point in their lives were "born again" Christians and both are now Qanon nutjobs.....one of them I could kind of see it as he was never a very intelligent guy, but a good guy once....the other was a shock, he was street smart, lots of common sense when he was young, something, somehow radicalized him....

I don't believe in organized religion, I think it does more harm than good. That is not to say there are very good, decent folks that do, we have many on this very board....

You can interpret the bible to justify pretty much anything you want

If North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson wants women’s votes, he sure has a funny way of showing it.

Robinson, a Republican positioning himself to run for governor in 2024, interpreted biblical scripture to suggest that women should not be in charge. (Watch the video below.)

“We are called to be led by men,” he said last month in a Charlotte-area church speech reported by WRAL on Monday. He acknowledged at the same time that such remarks would get him “in trouble.”

“God sent women out … when they had to do their thing, but when it was time to face down Goliath, [he] sent David. Not Davida — David.”

By the same token, God picked Moses to lead the Israelites out of Israel, he said.

“Not Momma Moses,” he preached. “Daddy Moses.”

“My God tells me that when I face adversity that, number one, I am to stand up like a man! M-A-N!” he added during a rant in which he chided churchgoers who “listen to the doctrine of social justice instead of listening to the doctrine of Jesus Christ.”

Well more than half of North Carolina’s registered voters are female, according to state records.

Robinson, a Donald Trump supporter who spoke at the former president’s North Carolina rally in April, has previously suggested on social media that Michelle Obama was a man and chided Black people for watching movies made by Jews.

He denies the existence of systemic racism and climate change, proudly owns AR-15 assault rifles and has called the LGBTQ community “filth.”............

Republican women won't be bothered at all. They will vote for him. This is a feature for them, not a bug.

A thing that's fascinating about some of these rising GOP stars is not that they've got blemishes here and there, but rather that they are very obviously wildly awful humans. Like if you just take a glimpse at his wikipedia page, he's one of the most transparently fraudulent people you could conceive of. Tax cheat, campaign finance fraud, paid for an abortion but opposes abortion, etc. But he's got an R in front of his name, loves guns, hates gays, so God must've anointed him. No amount of awfulness matters to them anymore. There is no bar, there is no limit. Just wrap yourself in the flag, quote bible verses, and you're good.

Yeah, I always though that POV odd. We've got it pretty good relatively speaking.
Yes. Obviously I did not know of your standing within madaboutpolitics
    So let's talk.
You are telling me that madaboutpolitics is different than tripadvisor.com or wdwmagic.com?
Both of those platforms have social / chat threads but no posting of scriptures would be allowed. They would be taken down.
    Here is different?
    If so...I'm impressed and surprised.

When I select "Your Content" I see that my quote of DaveXA and my posted response is "On the Main Community Board".
So I don't get it regarding your post stating that I should join the Main Community Board?

I didn't say you should join the Main Community Board, what I said was you should join the "Main Board" which is the Saint's Report board. Here's the link: https://saintsreport.com/

Go there and click on the "Politics" link at the top of that page. It will bring you right back to here. That's why it's called the "Main Board" This is the "MAP Board."

    So I followed your directions.
I don't like the New Orleans Saints but I just ignored all the images and did as I was told.
I joined....created the same user name. I am pending. So what are the main things that my doing this will accomplish?

I have the same user name and avatar there as well. :)

If you don't want to talk about football, don't click on the SSF football fan board. That's the first board listed to the left of Politics and EE. Once you've been there for a while and you find out how frendly and civil the folks there are you might not mind the Saints team as much.

You might even warm up over time to become a little bit of a Saints fan. :)

The EE board there is an active board for all discussions that don't involve politics,,, or at least not very much about politics or football. Some football will be everywhere on Saint's Report, but not as much on the EE board.

What it will accomplish is to add some personal fun into your board activities. There is such a thing as being overly focused on politics. When that happens folks forget that people from the other party are from amoung their kinfolk.

Steve's first thread there is going quite well, it's just about filled up the second page, and is about to go on to the third page.

    Great thread!

Looking forward to your eventual conversion to Saints fandom -- but a warning, it's not for the faint of heart.
