What happens to the Democratic Party now?

Yes, it is the National Review channel, but, yet again, for the nth time, forget about what the presenter says (although he doesn't say anything that is not true), and listen what the representatives of the DSA say in the embedded clips, which do not come from right wing sites.

This is what the Democrats are getting in bed with. They can't even call the Cuban government a dictatorship, even go as far as praising the "democratic process' in Cuba.

I have an opinion about what is happening to you. Sue me.

    Sue you? LOL

I don’t watch propaganda videos if I can help it. One person having issues isn’t indicative of the entire Democratic Party. The propagandists want you to think so. And it seems to be working on you.

You continue to entrench yourself in the word "propaganda", but refuse to address the points I make.

The videos I post aren't propaganda, and for the nth time, they are the easier to find sources for the clips I'd like to discuss (a lost art around here). For example, the last video, there is an embedded clip from CNN, one of the ones I want to discuss, but one that I could not readily find on the CNN website.

I don't know what are you referring to about one person having issues, but is not only 1 person, it is the leaders of the DSA telling you the message of the DSA, you just refuse to hear it. And it is very obvious the DSA is being embraced by the Democrats, because they don't learn: first it was Sanders, now it is the DSA.

He desperately has to tell himself that both sides are equally bad, otherwise he cannot vote for his preferred party.

    No, I don't.

I didn't want to vote for Hillary Clinton. I voted against MAGA.
I didn't want to vote for Joe Biden. I voted against MAGA.
I didn't want to vote for Kamala Harris. I voted against MAGA.

But now, I see the Democrats embracing the DSA and what it represents. I don't like what the DSA represents. Any of it.

He has to believe every lie that is told about Biden and his family, and every lie told about Harris, and every lie told about every Dem candidate.

This is the norm here: project, project, project.

I fall into this category as well. I also think a large portion of the electorate feels this way. Going full-out socialist is not gonna win you elections in this country. This is not to say that those type policies can not be interwoven into the Dems messaging and plans.....but a hard shift left will leave Dems on the outside looking in IMO.

This is not the moment for Democrats to shift hard left. Rebrand your message and come across as caring for your constituents and push back to "normal" is all you need to win against this shirt show the Republicans have turned into. It's really not as difficult as it seems. However, if you embrace the DSA and move toward that platform as your norm, you will not like the outcome. Please do not screw it up Dems!!!!!!

Count me in as well. Trump is handing them the midterms and the 2028 POTUS election on a platter.
I hope the Democrats are smart enough to take it. I can't lie. I have my doubts they will

If I take this at face value and accurate, you voted against MAGA which would be Trump, right? …holding your nose while voting means you’re a pragmatist, not perfect is better than aweful, and it’s better than all or let it burn down. 🤔
I can take criticism of candidates as long as perspective is maintained, and relative good vs bad is prioritized.

When I see DSA candidates campaigning, I never hear them talking about all this nonsense that you're so scared of. I hear them talking about Medicare-4-All, you know like the universal healthcare that you have in Mexico. I hear them talking about child care and how to bring down cost for the people of this country. I hear them talking about the authoritarian actions of the Trump administration against their own citizens and ICE killing people. I hear them talking about the hyper surveillance that has taken hold of this country with FLOCK and Palantir. I hear them talking about not sending money to Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc. or to support illegal and offensive wars, but to spend it here domestically to improve conditions in this country. I hear them talking about things that real people are worried about. And I hear them willing to fight and use the power of government to accomplish these goals.

When I see DSA governing, the most notable one being Mamdani in New York, I see them fulfilling their campaign promises. I see them using the power of government and making it work to actually make things better for the people that voted for him. I see them doing what I want the people I vote for to do.

So you saying you didn't want to vote for Clinton, Biden, and Harris and at the same time saying you won't vote for what DSA represents makes no sense. What exactly do you want :interrogations.gif:? You don't want people that represent the old standard policies, but you don't want a group of people with a new approach and policy either?

Yeah Systemshock can't accept that to everyone but him and Fox News viewers - DSA = social democracy.

I've been very dismissve of Systemshock in this thread, but I'll change my mind IF he can walk us through HOW the DSA socializes America. How does the party take over private companies, and then lockout all competition? How does this scenario play out? If this is a real concern, he should have an answer.

This is as real as trans bathroom rapes to me. I'm open to changing my mind, but you need to show your work.

I am less concerned as it seems there are relatively few running and where they are running I think the odds favor them.

Beyond that, the Democratic Party has let the Republican, excuse me, Radicalized Reactionary, Party define the term…again. Enough of that nonsense.

Has everyone forgotten that Bernie Sanders is a Democratic Socialist? It's a blatant lie that the Democratic party is endorsing and running on everything in the DSA charter. The Democratic party is not calling for abolishing private ownership. Anyone who is saying that is either lying or being fooled by Republican lies.

Worrying about the Democratic party being completely overtaken by everything some Democratic Socialists say they want is just like worrying about all the transgender women in the WNBA. It's worrying about something that is not happening.

What's actually happening is that a bunch of filthy rich spoiled brat billionaires realize that a majority of American voters support the Democratic candidates who want to make billionaires pay more of a fair share in taxes. The filthy rich spoiled brat billionaires hate that, so they are falsely claiming that the Democratic party wants to enact the extreme socialism of some Democratic Socialists.

The Dems are not screwing anything up. The only thing that can screw anything up is too many voters falling for the lies that Republicans keep telling.

Political candidates, as is the norm in most cases, and as well as you know, will hide behind softer language, but the heads of the DSA are telling you who they are, plain and simple. Unless you don't think the heads of the DSA speak for the DSA? Really, you simply have to look who a candidate surrounds themselves with; that's what tells you who they are.

That's sounds beautiful. Speaking of NYC, of course, the devil is in the details of how all of his plans are going to be financed. The "taking money from the rich" approach, sooner or later the money dries out. There's also the part of how all of those plans are going to affect small business owners, like the bodegas (which are mostly owned by immigrants) vis a vis the city grocery stores (and how you are going to need an ID to shop there, which is hilarious).

What do I want? How about not MAGA and not Marxists/Maoists? Somewhere in the middle? Is that too much to ask?

Speaking of Medicare and Mexico, yes , Mexico has the IMSS, but the IMSS sucks balls, to be frank. From not covering preventive wisdom tooth removal (and having to wait up to 6 months for extraction when they become a problem) to running out of pediatric cancer drugs, for months. It really is the equivalent of the DMV running hospitals.

But what Mexico also has, it is a great and affordable private healthcare system, with hospitals, pharmacies, etc. truly competing in the open market (the irony); here in Merida alone, we have 8 major private hospitals, about 10 different pharmacies (+ supermarket pharmacies offering things like single payer, price menus with upfront pricing, non interest financing, even sales and promotions. It certainly isn't affordable for 100% of the population, but you are not going to go bankrupt from a medical emergency.

The one thing that Mexico has that the U.S. doesn't have, is the level of government oversight over health care (and other basic needs). And what Mexico doesn't have, it is not beholden to insurance companies.

Now, I am not saying it is perfect down here, it certainly isn't, but in the great scheme of things, perhaps the DSA should look more to Mexico, instead of Cuba.

Not every post is about you, dear.

No, you don’t. You actually don’t. That’s what I meant by propaganda. It serves one party and one POV to convince you of what you just said up there. It serves MAGA GOP and their Christian Nationalist subsection.

The DSA is a small part of the Democratic Party. Very small - although some of their ideas align with mainstream Dem ideas, like Medicare for all. The more far left ideas - like abolishing police and even weirder stuff - aren’t going to go mainstream. They will be rejected by the majority of the party.

The reasons the GOP has gone so far right include a cult of personality and a really vigorous right wing media ecosystem that has been pounding away at more normal values of conservatives for a couple of decades at least. There isn’t any sort of corresponding structure on the left - there just isn’t. However the Christian Nationalists need to convince people like you that the Dems are crazy godless communists and are embracing terrorists or they are terrorists. Then you will truly vote against your best interests and vote for them.

It’s sad that it is working so well on you, tbh.

That's a lot of words for not really saying anything. I guess you can search for your goldilock candidate and support them.

We need a massive correction to the left in this country. We're so far to the right in this country on extreme capitalism, authoritarianism, kakistocracy that we're about to fall off the chart. Whatever it is that you think is ideal, isn't not going to work. It's what's already failed us. We can't just simply go back in time. We need a new direction and new solutions and the only ones that are leading the charge on that are DSA candidates. Let's not be under any delusions that DSA candidates, if elected, are going to be the majority or really have control. Whatever their more radical policies are will not take hold. But they can push Democrats to act with more urgency and strength because constituents are demanding real change and force a change in leadership (which is desperately needed for Democrats). If so, we will be better for it. I'll support any candidate talking about real issues and real solutions.

BTW, I love how your trashing Mexico's IMSS (which I know very little about), but even as you describe it, it sounds better than what we have. You're making the case for universal healthcare. The reason they're not beholden to the insurance companies is because of the universal healthcare. They've removed an inflationary cost on healthcare. We can do it and not run out of pediatric cancer drugs. I'm sure there are many models we can follow to do that.

If you can sell it honestly and get people to vote for it, then great. But people need to understand truthfully what it will cost the country and taxpayers individually and they also need to understand how things will work. They also need to understand that this is the government taking over the healthcare industry. That isn’t going to be free and there will be lines for things folks with private insurance haven’t had to wait for.
