Thought we should start thread here - over weekend, US carried out strikes against Houthi elements in Yemen in retaliation for their actions in Red Sea.

This morning Trump took to Truth Social:



So any missile/shot fired from Houthi elements in Yemen will be considered coming from Iran. Obviously this is wrought with problems, but we know Houthis will respond and continue attacks.

So then what does this mean for Iran? Lots to unpack, but seems to me that the NO WAR POTUS is hell bent on getting into yet ANOTHER conflict in the ME. He is backing himself into a corner with statements and we could find ourselves embroiled in ME conflict again.

i think its a ruse. Him saying that, in his mind, puts the Regime at lesser level of threat, when he still plans to bomb them.

Personally, i think its all stupid. If you are going to strike, just Please stop!. dont even talk about. If asked, just defer. But he cant. He has to bloviate.

Oh my, now might be a good time to mention that the news source is Israel's Channel 14. That channel is sort of their enlivenment of our own FOX News channel.

Is the lunatic going to do it??? That "he" might reach into the arms locker to unleash them some additional unpleasantness to add to their already unpleasant environment, yes, he might pull that.

That he might send an expeditionary force to invade Iran, probably not. An air attack of some kind, with the possibility that there be a one or two day incursion of a limited force on their soil is on the outside of that likely worst case estimation.

The first thing "he" will encounter if he asks military planners advise, is they would tell him that Iran isn't some kind of podunk third world country. It's a modern first world county with an industrial base and workforce.

I would rate them along side of say Ukraine, Poland, Italy, perhaps France, even the state of California would be a comparable major first world nation as well, albeit we from California being a state in of the USA, not one of the major states of the EU whom I've listed.

Ukraine has demonstrated that they as a smaller country can keep the larger country Russia in check militarily. With the wide Atlantic ocean between us, Iran would be easily able to keep us in check if we tried to pull off too much on their territory.

They'll cull a bunch of their own citizens if they do now what they have done before when the citizens threaten to rebel. They're not running low on citizens.

I would hate to be under them during that without an umbrella because when they are still wiggling on the steel cable they would also be peeing their last.

Sounds like a significant number of Iranians have had enough. The regime IMO is dangerous not only to Iranians but also to its neighbors as they sponsor terrorism throughout the region. So while I have no desire to go to war with Iran, I do believe we need to be supportive where possible to the Iranian people who oppose that regime. I also have no issue with targeted military operations designed to prevent the Iranian government from obtaining weapons of mass destruction nor do I have a problem with sanctions that starve that government of the resources they use to sponsor terrorism in the region. I believe eventually they will collapse under the pressure. Good riddance.

Not to mention it’s hard for me to see how Venezuelans have benefited at all. Nothing was done to the cartels. The same repressive political party is in power. The only thing Trump accomplished is to kidnap Madura, which sets a dangerous precedent, and seize Venezuelan oil and put the money in an account that he controls.

That mission resembled a “smash and grab” more than anything else to quote a journalist.

In other words - nobody wants Venezuelans to suffer. We just aren’t naive enough to think our criminal president actually did anything to help them yet.

Oh, and the killing in Iran hasn’t stopped. He just said it did so he could back out of whatever idiotic thing he thought he could do. I’m glad he backed out, but he didn’t help them out one bit.
