Trump VP selection process begins (1 Viewer)

During her rise through America’s most prestigious schools, law firms and judicial clerkships, Usha Vance rarely — if ever — volunteered her opinions on the nation’s bitterly partisan politics to friends and colleagues.

But she did express revulsion at former president Donald Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, 2021.

Vance told friends she was outraged by Trump’s incitement of the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol and lamented the social breakdown that fueled his political support, according to one friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive conversations.

Her view at the time contrasts with the later pronouncements of her husband and Trump’s newly minted running mate, JD Vance, who has downplayedthe storming of the Capitol and called participants who were jailed “political prisoners.”

“Usha found the incursion on the Capitol and Trump’s role in it to be deeply disturbing,” the friend recalled. “She was generally appalled by Trump, from the moment of his first election.”

Speaking the morning after Usha Vance introduced her husband at the Republican National Convention and watched his speech from the same VIP box as Trump, the friend added, “It was surreal to see her sitting next to him last night.”

That sensation is widely shared among her friends, former co-workers and fellow alumni, more than two dozen of whom spoke to The Washington Post for this story.

Some watched in disbelief on July 17 when Usha Vance, 38, addressed an overwhelmingly White crowd on the convention floor that tittered uneasily as she joked about her husband learning to cook Indian food and audibly gasped when she mentioned her vegetarian diet……

Vance is crazy. I didn’t know that until he became the VP pick. But I am starting to seriously think he has a screw or two loose.

The MAGA movement is inherently one of self-interest, so it’s no surprise it attracts people like her and her husband. For them, it’s an opportunity to pursue their naked ambitions, free of any real guiding principles. The politics of MAGA is intentionally cruel and incapable of understanding the suffering and the dreams of others. It has grown from, and is meant to incite, people’s worst instincts and impulses.

The Vance’s ability to casually retreat from their previous harsh criticisms of Trump shows they fit right in.

Fentanyl is devastating many communities. The Biden & Harris open borders to replenish their voter base has allowed Fentanyl and illegals to pour in our country.

Liar. Border crossings have been dropping. The only people screeching about open borders are the azzhat Republicans that would not bring a bill to the floor that had what they wanted.

All because your false god told them not to. From that point on the border problem is due to Republicans and voters like you that support them.

True! Fentanyl is devastating. However, most of the Fentanyl is smuggled in by U.S. Citizens, not Asylum-seeking migrants.

    • Fentanyl smuggling is ultimately funded by U.S. consumers who pay for illicit opioids: nearly 99 percent of whom are U.S. citizens.
    • In 2021, U.S. citizens were 86.3 percent of convicted fentanyl drug traffickers—ten times greater than convictions of illegal immigrants for the same offense.
    • Over 90 percent of fentanyl seizures occur at legal crossing points or interior vehicle checkpoints, not on illegal migration routes, so U.S. citizens (who are subject to less scrutiny) when crossing legally are the best smugglers.
    • The location of smuggling makes sense because hard drugs at ports of entry are about 97 percent less likely to be stopped than are people crossing illegally between them.
    • Just 0.02 percent of the people arrested by Border Patrol for crossing illegally possessed any fentanyl whatsoever.

No surprise that the right is still pointing fingers at Biden & Harris for the border when a) those numbers are way down since Biden took executive action, and b) Trump is responsible for nixing the bipartisan border deal because he didn't want Biden to receive credit., Of course, if you remove the border problem from his campaign agenda, what's Trump going to run on? Insulting the opposition? Then again, the right never lets go of any talking point unless it becomes irrelevant., and it matters not if said talking point is baseless, or who is responsible.

I find the notion that the Biden administration would open the borders for the purpose of replenishing their voter base to be one of the most laughable conspiracy theories seeded from the right. It's QAnon-level ridiculousness.

Vance is right and the WPATH Files and Cass Review confirm that. I think most parents would support his position.

I wasn't aware that the cartel members who are smuggling in fentanyl participated in the above surveys.

Of course we would be pointing the finger at Biden and Harris. Their administration have facilitated record numbers of illegals into our country including Biden flying them into the US.

Why did Biden wait 3.5 years to take those actions?

Do you think voters will believe that the Biden administration who let in record amounts of illegals into our country for 3 years and then recently shifting their policies for the election as a good faith effort? No way. Everyone can see he only made those changes recently for the election.

Once again that "bipartisan" border bill was only supported by the establishment Senate Republicans who want an open border for the cheap labor. That bill would have done nothing to fix the border. What it would have done is put more power in the incompetent Mayorkas and increase funding to the NGOs that are helping support the illegals.

The House passed a real border bill back in 2023 that would have addressed many of the border problems. The Senate wanted nothing to do with it because establishment Republicans want the cheap labor and Democrats want them as eventual voters.

You write all this and never once acknowledge the fact that was presented to you. About 87% of fentanyl is smuggled into the US by US citizens. The migrants that are claiming asylum and that you call “illegal” are not the ones bringing in fentanyl.

And you can criticize Biden if you want, but it is Congress who has to fix the border.

When Biden finally asked for a bipartisan bill, he actually got one due to bipartisan work in the Senate. This idea you keep pushing that the bill wouldn’t do any good is merely weak partisan arse-kissing of Trump. Trump himself said why he killed the border bill - he said it was for political reasons. He said he didn’t want it to help Biden in his re-election.

What you are doing is gaslighting about the border bill, and pushing the great replacement theory which is rooted in racism and antisemitism. You persist in doing this even after multiple people have pointed it out to you.

    Bad faith posting.

No, he’s wrong as are you.

Again, how many children are there in the US and how many trans kids are there?

Btw, virtually every medical process at one time was “experimentation”. Do we still bleed people for having fevers or whatever else? Dr. Ben Carson, another MAGA hero, mad a career of separating conjoined twins which simply more experimentation.

The problem with those who oppose trans is not that they are righteously indignant over experimentation. It is that they hate trans people. Thus they cast about for plausible reasons to cover their hatred.
