The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

President Donald Trump set off a "five-alarm fire" in the White House on Sunday morning after he retweeted a video of one of his supporters saying "white power," according to two White House officials.

The video remained on the president's Twitter page, where he has 82 million followers, for more than three hours because White House officials couldn't reach him to ask him to delete it, the two officials said. The president was at his golf club in Virginia and had put his phone down, the officials said.


Aides also tried unsuccessfully to reach deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino to ask him to delete the retweet, officials said.

Some speculation here based on comments from those close to him that Trump may drop out of the race. He is getting slapped pretty hard by the courts recently AND by the public for his handling of...well....everything.

That article is pretty brutal. Lots of very believable issues. It's not like he's a savant when off camera. he's the same blustering guy who can't be bothered to learn anything.

these are the things I try to mention and bring up with friends and family who talk about the sanctity of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, when it comes to Free Speech. The most vicious attacks on the First Amendment come from Trump himself, more often - with more power behind it - than anything people complain about. If people really want to get worked up over "Cancel Culture" (which I still maintain is largely a meaningless phrase), then I don't know how the President ends up excluded. Or, even more than that, defended.

It's not about the principle, though, really. It's just opportunistic victimization.
