The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

i try to make it a policy not to watch Trumps speeches, but rather read the transcripts.

I find it to be much more illuminating.

When I finally watched a good portion of the speech, it felt very much like he was reading words on a script. But not even a script because that presumes some sense of order, progress, structure.

at times, he would just say a word and then another word and then another, in the order he saw them, with neither awareness nor regard of what the actual words were, or what they meant, or their relationship to one another.

This is what people mean when they say he can't read. Obviously he can read words, but I do not think he can read and understand a complete sentence or paragraph, and certainly not an abstract thought.

Yeah it's awful man. He is a horrific, horrific person. He'd burn down everything without a second thought if he believed it'd be in his self-interest.

I hope and believe he is misreading the room this time though, and that this ultimately won't play to his advantage.

its only perceived to work because those same folks have a platform in social media. They tend to scream the loudest to drown out everyone else.

Nov 3rd will be the day those voices are pushed back into marginalization. They will still have the platforms to yell, but no one will pay attention to them any longer.
