The football board had the very useful Daily Trump Tracker thread, which was a good place to briefly discuss the latest ridiculous thing that might have ended 97% of prior Presidential administrations even if it didn't necessarily justify an entire thread devoted to it in 2017-2019 (because of the sheer volume of these things). Since I don't see anything like that here already, I'll add one myself.

Theres nothing wrong with 'Our President'.

Its the Libs that are the problem. Everyone else.

if we have Presidential debates come late summer/early fall, his goose is cooked.

I would simply just read that aloud and then look at the camera and the American people.

Yeah, this 'always try and find a silver lining in a bad situation' attitude is so boomer. Why? Just bask in fear and anxiety like we always do. Shame.

or tweet that with a follow up to " The administration is working to alleviate fears ....etc etc. "

but thats not what was done. Thats the issue.

Not every American has the financial well-being to sit around. Thats the insensitive part. She didnt convey that sentiment.

    not surprising.

She is the First Lady. Her comments should be of solidarity and commitment to the American people from her and her family.

My wife is a social worker with severe needs foster kids. She has 18 children who are either autistic or mentally traumatized due to severe abuse, neglect or both. There are millions of homeless and hungry in our country. Hell, the school districts were reluctant to shut down because the meals served at school are the only meals many kids get.

You think that tweet is comforting to their homes? It comes across as elitist and completely out of touch.

you think people working from home should be doing hobbies and reading books, visiting with family, etc? That’s what stuck out to me. But thanks for the snarky reply. 🤦‍♀️

But that's just the thing. His constituents don't GAF. As long as they can own the libs, Trump could tbag them metaphorically over and over and it'd be all good.

It's really weird watching Trump and Dr. Fauci talk back and forth

Reporter: Asking something along the lines of the possibility of chloroquine being used to effectively treat coronavirus

Trump: Basically saying there are good things and good possibilities with this drug

Dr. Fauci: That was all anecdotal and we can't extrapolate from a few clinical trials

Trump: Were very hopeful about it im optimistic about it

He needs a boogeyman for his re-election efforts.

in 2016 it was Hillary and her emails/ and the swamp.

This year will be China. The narrative has begun. Pay attention as we ramp up into full campaign mode ( if we get to that point ).

Today's creepiest coronavirus Big Brother moment goes to the Israeli government:

Hundreds of Israelis were startled Wednesday by an unsolicited text message.

"Hello. According to an epidemiological investigation," it began, addressing each recipient by name. "You were near someone sick with the coronavirus. You must immediately isolate at home [14 days] to protect your relatives and the public. ... This information will be used only for this purpose and will be erased when no longer needed. Sincerely, public health services."

Police were already in the process of using cell phone tracking data to enforce quarantine, when the Israeli Supreme Court put a stop to it.

"Big Brother is here," wrote Omer, a young father, on Facebook, minutes after he received a text message that he'd been close to a virus carrier the previous week. "I guess I can understand why they're doing it," he said in an interview, withholding his last name due to, well, privacy concerns. "But it makes you think what other private personal information they have access to, and if it's being used in the appropriate way."

I am with you, Omer! :winkthumb:

With the stock market down sharply, unemployment on the rise, and critics blasting away at his response to the pandemic, you'd think the president's approval rating would be in the toilet. But, according to CNN's Chris Cillizza, it isn't.

(CNN)Here's an indisputable fact: President Donald Trump is as popular today as he has been since his first day in office.
In a new Gallup poll, 49% approve of the job Trump is doing as president while 45% disapprove, matching the highest his approval rating has ever been in Gallup surveys. A Monmouth University poll released on Monday showed Trump at 46% approval, again the best he has done in that poll in more than three years.

Chris goes on to explain . . .

What accounts for Trump's rise? Simple: His response to the coronavirus crisis.
In the Gallup poll, 60% of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing in handling the crisis while 38% disapprove of how he has done. Six in 10 independents approve of how Trump has done on the coronavirus as do more than 1 in 4 (27%) of Democrats. In the Monmouth poll, 50% say Trump has done a good job with coronavirus while 45% said he has done a bad job.

    He takes it a bit further . . .

But what the Gallup and Monmouth numbers seem to suggest is that either a) people aren't following every single statement made by Trump on this matter or b) they don't hold him personally responsible for the hiccups along the way.
The average person seems to broadly believe that Trump is doing the best that he can in a very difficult circumstance. And that what he says on a daily basis matters less than the fact he is out there saying it, and assuring the country that this will all be over soon.

I'm with Chris on this! :pdito:
