I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Just wanted to touch on this. I don't know the original sources, but a relative has been texting me similar stuff. Here's a snippet or two. Crazy people. :covri:

Apparently, this below was posted on Parler and the 19th was the target date. I've seen several different dates, so idk. In any case, security folks in DC hopefully will be on top of this and keep Guard troops and a heavy police presence in DC from now until at least a week after the inauguration, imo.

They don't know how them EMS works. I mean, EVERYONE would see it. That's the point.

I do, at least from a Catholic point of view. It's all about abortion and getting rid of Roe v. Wade. They can forgive all his other transgressions because these are one-issue Christians. They want the end of all abortion protections.

Hell, EWTN has gone full anti-Francis and moved over to Parler to further their support of Trump.
I haven't watched EWTN in a long time, that may explain why my mom started echoing odd things and got on the Trump train. She's slowly been brain washed.

Yeah. I haven't watch since before Mother Angelica died. But it has become a trash shell of itself. It's cancelled shows and fired hosts who spoke out after the George Floyd murder (both black). They regularly bring on and praise the former nuncio to the USCCB, who is clearly anti-Francis. Others have jump ship as well.

    That's sad to hear.

I told my neighbor who is a conservative Christian
Her response and justification for supporting Trump was "But he has good policies!
That one highlighted, bolded and underlined word tells me that your neighbor doesn't understand the teachings of what being Christian means. If a person will compromise their faith, they'll compromise anything.

No one in the history of the world has ever said "The Devil is bad but....."

Did he give any indication why? Does it seem like just a dumb feeling he has, or is it based on things he’s hearing and opinions of those he’s serving with?
He didn't say who, but made it sound as though he isn't alone, and that he isn't a source of anything. Just a big mouth who might be getting in too deep.

The Q clowns here at work are predicting another run at this soon. One date that I heard was the 15th.

One of these goofs is a reservist who is way too excited about it. He thinks that his unit will be helping Trump. What really confuses me is that he's Hispanic. I can't imagine why he would side with that crowd.
Hispanic might as well be the old Greek Isles. Depends on which Nationality.

Great now I’ll be refreshing Twitter and watching tv news all evening.

At 7:40 PM in which time zone?
I think it's more likely to be a (very weird) glitch of some sort, because it shows a different time in different browser sessions.

I clicked through, and it showed 19:48:42. In an incognito window, 19:48:39. In a different browser session entirely, 19:49:00.

Most likely, someone's trying to put some code in to put that update in when it's actually happened, and it's gone a bit wrong.
