I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Her response and justification for supporting Trump was "But he has good policies! His behavior doesn't really matter."
Separating children from parents -- I still don't understand how that was acceptable to anyone.

It's in the Bible remember? The Romans were looking for Jesus to separate him from his parents.

Yeah, several months ago, I asked her about that, and she said that was the consequence of attempting to enter the country illegally. In her mind, she thinks it the families' own fault for getting their kids separated. That bugged the hell out of me, but that was her view.

The fallout is continuing in the business world, as some major companies have begun announcing they have suspended donations to the campaigns of congressional members who voted against the certification of Joe Biden. This will have to be sweeping and sustained to ultimately matter, but it’s noteworthy in the current turmoil.

Yeah, I think hitting them where it hurts most will be the way to get these idiots off of the Trump train. Those who voted against Biden's certification should not be in their seats. If it were up to me, they would all be kicked out of Congress. There's no place for fomenting and encouraging sedition/treason.

There is a push for this. if they won't resign (and I doubt any will) I'm not sure what further action would be taken
    ==============================================

Republican members of Congress who voted against certifying Joe Biden’s presidential victory, even after a mob broke into the Capitol, are being denounced by critics in their home districts who demand that they resign or be ousted.

Protesters, newspaper editorial boards and local-level Democrats have urged the lawmakers to step down or for their colleagues to kick them out. The House and Senate can remove members with a two-thirds vote or censure or reprimand with a majority.

Rep. Madison Cawthorn “needs to be held accountable for his seditious behavior and for the consequences resulting from said behavior,” a group of Democratic officials wrote in a letter asking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to expel the North Carolina freshman who took his oath of office on Jan. 3.

Cawthorn said he had a constitutional duty to vote against Biden. He condemned the violence in Wednesday's attack, but compared it to last summer's protests over police brutality.................

Lawmakers who voted against Biden are denounced back home (msn.com)

The Q clowns here at work are predicting another run at this soon. One date that I heard was the 15th.

One of these goofs is a reservist who is way too excited about it. He thinks that his unit will be helping Trump. What really confuses me is that he's Hispanic. I can't imagine why he would side with that crowd.

This is the stuff that the crazies believe, and why I think inauguration day will probably end up involving the deaths of some innocent people and many more terrorists.
I took this screen shot from someone I actually know, who shared it.. who was actually at the protest and said they were on the steps of the capitol only to be turned around by being shot at by rubber bullets and tear gas, and was livid they would do that to American citizens.. facepalm.

Just wanted to touch on this. I don't know the original sources, but a relative has been texting me similar stuff. Here's a snippet or two. Crazy people. :covri:

I’m posting this as strictly a warning. None of this is confirmed and I’m not saying it will definitely happen. I have been praying for God to direct me in leading our little band of patriots. These are thoughts that have come to mind today. We don’t know for sure what the next 10 days will hold, but there is one universal truth: plan for the worst, hope for the best. 1. President Trump can and may sign and put in to place the insurrection act. He may have already signed it. What is it? The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a United States federal law[1] that empowers the President of the United States to deploy U.S. military and federalized National Guard troops within the United States in particular circumstances, such as to suppress civil disorder, insurrection or rebellion. 2. The president may order arrests including members of the government up to and including Mike Pence and even Joe Biden himself. President Trump may be inaugurated with a new cabinet on Jan 20. 3. If this doesn’t happen, there may be a rebellion started from the“right” when or even before Biden is inaugurated. 3. If any of these things happen, there may be and most likely will be violence erupting across the nation. 4. Plan for power outages. Get your food and water stocked up. Have a family plan. We are all here to protect our families first, neighborhoods and communities second, the state of Utah third. Talk to your neighbors, find out who has Ham equipment, supplies, large equipment, etc. Find out who the watchdogs are that can come together and protect your neighborhood. 5. What happens if there is an internet blackout? Are you ready to face that possibility? 6. Do NOT trust main stream media or social media to report the truth. Go in to your phone and turn off automatic updates. Last resort, the president may use the National Emergency Broadcast System to communicate with us. Apple, Google and Amazon have shown where their loyalty lies. They will attempt to remove this service from your phone to keep you from receiving information. 7. Pray. Pray to have eyes to discern between truth and error. Pray for peace and for righteousness and truth to prevail. Pray for our President, whether it be Trump or Biden. Love to my family, Casey

Turn off auto updates on your Android and Apples phones. To prevent Google and Apple company disabling EMS (Emergency Message System). Instructions how to turn it off... go to google play, menu, settings, auto-update apps, choose "don't auto-update apps" After Jan 20th, it is up to you to change it back to auto-update apps. You would not want to miss EMS, MSM will not report it. If you do not like to be in dark, not aware of anything happening. It is very important to do this. Either if it's a theory or not... It may or not happen, never know and I prefer to keep safe. Be safe!

Apparently, this below was posted on Parler and the 19th was the target date. I've seen several different dates, so idk. In any case, security folks in DC hopefully will be on top of this and keep Guard troops and a heavy police presence in DC from now until at least a week after the inauguration, imo.

My husband and I watched a CNN special last night at 10pm, and both of us were surprised about the number of minorities in the crowd. Some of the footage was very quick so it was hard to identify but I’d say at least 10% of the crowd were minorities. Trump did do some good things for minorities (for which he will never be remembered for) but I can’t imagine why someone especially Black people would want themselves associated with a crowd that has white supremacists.

the footage i want to see if of the Senator and House members from wherever they were hidden away at

I hope Hawley, Cruz, Scalise and the rest were getting screamed stupid by both Dems and Repubs

I don't talk a lot about my faith on the boards, but it was precisely my faith that prompted me to reject Trump from the beginning. I've never understood the adration and irrational support he gets from a lot of Christians and other people of faith.

An example of this was apparent to me yesterday. I told my neighbor who is a conservative Christian that I've always had a problem with Trump's behavior. Never liked his acting like a bully and how he deals with people. And his propensity for embellishing and exaggeration (lying) is second to none. I read his book "Art of the Deal" many moons ago, and it just was not compatible with how I view and treat people. Her response and justification for supporting Trump was "But he has good policies! His behavior doesn't really matter."

Ugh! :covri: You can have the perfect platform, but if you're a crappy human being, you're not getting support from me.

I do, at least from a Catholic point of view. It's all about abortion and getting rid of Roe v. Wade. They can forgive all his other transgressions because these are one-issue Christians. They want the end of all abortion protections.

Hell, EWTN has gone full anti-Francis and moved over to Parler to further their support of Trump.

Would that not be consideret a threat against the nation? I mean - if something was posted here our intelligence services would be looking at IP's and whatever to find the idiot who posted that... Imagine those post came from a muslim chatboard... Those who wrote them would probably already be locked up and the key thrown away...

Oh it's definitely a threat. It should be treated as such. Regardless of source, there absolutely needs to be robust security in place to prevent a repeat of 1/6.

But why wait? AFAIK it is against the law to make threats against people and open call for armed insurrection?

They should be identified and arrested ASAP

American law enforcement does pursue these types of incidents, including those that might fall in the category of hoax. There are factors, though, that will affect the occurrence and timing of arrests, including jurisdiction, the seriousness and urgency of the threat, the securing of warrants, evidence gathering, and how it might relate to a broader investigation, and so on.

Parler might feel like a haven to speak freely, beyond the limits of the law, to some of its participants, but it doesn’t exist outside the reach of law enforcement.
