I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

To pour some cold water on some of you, I just saw a video of the crowd dragging a capitol city policeman out of a building and was apparently knocked unconscious

I believe that's the officer that was killed.

Here are some screenshots from the thread that Chuck and I both found:

Not a fan of those weak arse charges tho...

"charged with one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds"

C'mon, where's the crap they do where they throw murder charges on the assailant when the accomplice gets killed. Hell, they ALL (by all I mean everyone who stormed the capitol) should get 5 murder charges for each of the 5 people killed during this siege.
    Not black

Nancy Pelosi on Sunday night said she would give Mike Pence, Vice President, 24 hours to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from office before launching impeachment proceedings.

Someone should tweet that @MikePence, because that's what trump set him up for. These people supposedly love cops and they're beating the dog poop out of that one. I guess they only meant "Blue Lives Matter" while they're taking black lives.

    Yeah.
"Dear Mr Pence, that's you and your family if those yahoos had been just little bit faster."

Just heard another officer died. I have no Twitter. Anyone can confirm?

Edit: got bad info. See post #1582 for clarification.

So it looks that an officer who responded on the 6th, died. May be 2nd suicide.

That's the same name as the earlier guy.... I think we're still at just 1 death from injuries, and 1 death from suicide.

"There is concern that military members may have been involved in the riot," the official said.

The Pentagon also has been asked to review all members who will be a part of the security detail for the Jan. 20 inauguration to ensure the are "not sympathetic to domestic terrorists," Crow said.
At least the Pentagon isn’t in denial.
