I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

It's really happening guys. To some degree anyway with the non crazies. It was a cult and he realizes it and there's at least some hope on this front for the ones that didn't get sucked down a dark social media rabbit hole.

on another note, remember the military looking guy with zip tie restraints in the Senate Chamber? Well there’s a guy on Twitter working very hard on him, and others who looked like they were serious about taking hostages and/or killing people. This thread is just fascinating. It’s a very long thread, and no, he isn’t doxxing them, taking clues by DM only, once he figures the identity out he forwards to FBI.

So far (he says) he has identified one high ranking former military officer who also had zip tie restraints and was in the House chamber. Anyway he’s very close on the one we were talking about, identified him at his hotel and walking onto the grounds of the Capitol with same woman said to be his mother. Some amateur journalist interviewed him at his hotel when eating breakfast with his mom and she didn’t have her face covered later.

I kinda just figured it was me- but i got a text earlier today from my MAGA-mom in which she almost sounded, dare i say it- Conciliatory... Maybe the events of this week is what it took?? I’ll need further evidence to know for sure... I’ve been saying for a while that Trumpism is a lot like $cientology, so maybe there are a few Leah Reminis busting out.

If they are the only ones behaving like adults, then they need to interact with everyone else as if they are children.

It might not seem like it, but they're not the only ones acting like adults. There are adults in both parties. I treat my my teenaged kids like adults, because they pretty much are now. My oldest son was a Trumper for a bit, but now he doesn't care for Trump at all without me having to tell him anything. He's still a conservatives and Republican though, even though I've left the party. People ultimately have to find their own way. We can agree to disagree and move on. That's what normal adults do. Congress needs to learn to do the same.

They have to get rid of the rabid tribalism though. Probably wishful thinking, oh well.
