I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

How witty. Such an elegant debate riposte. Such incisive reasoning. I bet Noel Coward and Oscar Wilde are just KICKING themselves that they didn't think of such a piquant epigrammaticism !
    Your thesaurus is showing.

I'd recommend just responding in as thoughtful a way as possible. Dont assume retreads, this is just how their party is. Learn to discuss matters with type of thinking.

All you will do is get yourself in trouble.
He came into the board the way he came into the board. I might be wrong, but I doubt it. Regardless I see no point in playing their stupid games when they show up here with such defiance.

Welcome to another European but you must understand that people are rather angry today - as would you be if someone used violence and destruction to raid your parliment especially if it was a person who had taken an oath to to protect and defend your constitution and to serve as your countrys foremost defender who rallied his supporters to do so by lies and deceit.

And then you talk about people needing an excuse to attack Trump.. No excuses are necessary. His own actions has proven him as a traitor, bully and a wanne-be dictator

When people register on a new site and immediately start posting in a relatively aggressive and confrontational way, it tends to suggest they're not actually here for good faith debate and can provoke such responses. It can also often be taken as the behaviour of a sock puppet (that is, a new account created by an existing, or previous, member). So @Brandon13's observation is certainly blunt, but I think it's also understandable. If you are here for genuine debate, you can easily address that by perhaps dialing it down a notch.
I'm new to THIS forum, but not to debate forums in general. Still, I'll think on what you've said.

Such evidence can easily be provided - as @Eeyore has just shown. You're confusing the exasperation that comes from someone demanding evidence for something that's so well established at this point with an absence of evidence, and they're very much not the same thing.

It's like demanding evidence that the Earth isn't flat. That people may not be willing to entertain you by supplying the evidence is an indication that you're asking for something that's been shown over and over again and that no-one paying any attention at all should really need to ask for at this point. It is not a sign that you're onto something or have a point; it's very much the opposite.
Funnily enough, one forum I frequent is one debating mysterious phenomena. There are people who pop up there who actually believe that the earth IS flat.

Be that as it may, there is ONE weakness in your analysis; in some cases, people can submit to Groupthink, and certain ideas aren't discussed because they are no longer 'permitted' ideas: the 'narrative' forbids them. It is healthy to occasionally challenge such orthodoxies. Also bear in mind that - coming from the UK - I may have a different view on what constitutes "well established orthodoxy", and my comments may reflect this, rather than being a malicious challenge purely to annoy Brandon13 !

On a totaly different note: any idea if this forum permits superscripts ? (numbers and letters that are small, and appear just above the normal text line ? ).

Bill Mahers first show back should be something to see

he's been saying for years what happened yesterday was going to happen
You can also queue up the video of his ghost writer who predicted this situation prior to the 2016 election, thinking that it was going to happen in some form when he was supposed to lose to Hillary.

You could probably go back to the old politics board and find my post right after Trump was elected.... Trump has been using that old facist playbook for the last 5 years...

Lol, yes, Brandon. We just have to white knuckle it through the next 13 days. Unless some Rs or Ds grow a spine and get him out. My hope is that they have him at least sedated properly in a back room at the WH residence and we won’t have to see or hear from him. Hope springs eternal.

I would settle for that movie Dave, with Alec Baldwin taking his place for the last two weeks.

Today HAS to be the day this poopshow comes to an end...He either needs to be 25th'd out, "impeached-in-a-day" or both...(as I call it, the political equivalent to being shot then hung) either way. he should not be allowed to finish today as president. TBH, how he was able to wake up this morning as president is befuddling to say the least.

Also from the UK, and we've had no shortage of coverage of Trump's megalomania.

As for challenging ideas, yes, if one is genuinely unfamiliar with why a particular orthodoxy may be held, it is indeed reasonable to ask. However, doing so by using terms like 'vacuous hyperbole' and suggesting it's only 'pretty obvious' because people want 'an excuse - ANY excuse - to criticise Donald Trump' does not suggest genuine unfamiliarity, which wouldn't enable any position on the subject to be reasonably held, but opposition.

I don't think so. List of supported BB code on the site is here: https://madaboutpolitics.com/help/bb-codes/

I don’t see any evidence that anyone is going to do anything yet. Sigh.

Oh, and a newly elected WV delegate was in the group who stormed the US Capitol. He’s probably antifa, right? 🙄

Just set him up with a conveyor belt of McDonald's and we shouldn't see him for a few days.
