I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Really starting to wonder if Trump won't be out of office in the next 24 hours. I was definitely hoping Pence would open by calling on Congress to join him in invoking the 25th amendment but thinking about it that would probably be against the rules for this particular proceeding.

That's a pipe dream. He won't even criticize Trump directly, there's no way he'll try to have him removed.

Yeah, they need to get this process done first. But when the joint session resumes, I wouldn't be surprised if someone there tried to introduce it after the counting of the electors are completed.

Pence would have to be the one to do it.

People on this board? I don't recall that. Although if it came from Farb, SFL and Beach Friends etc then it's no wonder I don't remember what any of them said lol

I was one of the people because I thought it was something that could be used as election year fodder for his crazies.

I was wrong. They don’t need any more fodder and he should absolutely be removed from office.

That doesn't make their feelings valid and it doesn't absolve Trump for inciting this and refusing to clearly and unequivocally denounce it. There is no both sides here. These are seditionists in the throws of an insurrection.
I agree. They are seditionists, and Trump’s message was pitiful, but my point is that it may have been the only way that it would’ve worked. Had he not validated them, they may have considered him a traitor to their cause. He maintained his power and influence over them to heed his request by validating them. I’m not validating their actions nor approving of Trump’s message. I certainly am only speculating that it might not have worked if he had simply asked them to leave. I’m just thankful that he did ask them to leave peacefully, rather than saying nothing or cheering for them. He could’ve done worse. It is admittedly a low bar.

    Disgusting, seditious traitors...

For the life of me I have never understood that crap.

They actually idolize losers. People that gave up. That is the one thing that never made sense to me even when I was a small child I understood that symbol is the symbol of an actual loser even before I understood the racist part.

    Just pathetic.

That's all well and good, but they tip toe around the top instigator of this.

Right. I'm in no rush to congratulate any of these butt crevasses right now. Make no mistake -- they are mad, pissed, filled with righteous indignation because it was their arse on the line today. They were scared, huddled in locked rooms, in fetal positions on the House floor, behind barricaded doors, with guns aimed at the entrance, waiting.

Well, guess what forkers. You got a taste of what our school children go through during mass shootings at school. What our citizens endure during mass shootings in public. Oh, but I should applaud that they want to throw around the thugs and mobs labels now that they had skin in the game.

fork off. All of em. They enabled that dude for four years and when the snake finally bit them they want to cry foul. Hypocrites.

Lankford basically came on and said the audit Cruz wants isn't happening and they're going to count the electors and honor the votes to elect Biden. I don't think that's what he was planning to say before all this started.
That is correct, he is a member of the Sedition Caucus.

“It is a sickening and heartbreaking sight,” Bush said in a statement. “This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic – not our democratic republic.”
Bush said the rioters who breached the building and remained there for hours were “inflamed by falsehoods and false hopes.”

“I am appalled by the reckless behavior of some political leaders since the election and by the lack of respect shown today for our institutions, our traditions, and our law enforcement,”

Bush is a significantly better ex-President than he was a President. And I mean that in a nice way.

@DaveXA, been meaning to ask. Were you able to talk your friend out of attending this mess today?

I don't know. She was wavering a bit last time I talked to her. Her brother and his crew changed plans and are not going to her place, so that's a relief. I think she was just gonna meet them at a restaurant for lunch and not go to the rally with them. I guess I'll find out in a day or 2.

Dollars to donuts, she's gonna tell me those antifa thugs were the ones who damaged the Capitol. Ugh, I don't look forward to hearing her warped view of what happened.
