    I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

    Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

    Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

    I have been leery of Bush and the fact that many of the atrocities committed under his watch have been airbrushed or consigned to the dustbin of history as he has been increasingly accepted by the mainstream centre/centre-left. But I cannot fault him at any point during or after the election.

    He eschewed a range of customs and norms (and more directly, international law) as president but he has been steadfast in his support for the integrity of America’s own democratic institutions. Which is particularly important given his role as an elder statesman of the GOP (even if it has led to half of the base effectively disowning him in the process).

    Come on, man. Don't be naive. These are the people who follow incoherent posts in 4chan from an anonymous source and think there is a deep state that enslaves and abuses children and worship Satan. The message was dog whistle after dog whistle, (well, they are just plain whistles now) with a forced "go home" thrown as some type of failed CYA. For a couple of weeks, and throughout the day, Trump and his lackeys urged them to march, spewing the same flammable vitriol he's been spewing since the election was called.

    I've been in and out since they restarted. Sounds like every R thus far has refused to register an objection. Accurate?
     
    They are still debating the AZ objection. But, yes a couple have said they won’t lodge further objections.
