I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

People on this board? I don't recall that. Although if it came from Farb, SFL and Beach Friends etc then it's no wonder I don't remember what any of them said lol
No it was brought up in one of the election threads and people were worried it would make the Dems look stupid.

I dont have kids, but I’d actually be tempted to change the first line to ‘AVOID all media today’ ... but honestly, depending on the age of the kids, the events today could be a great history lesson in real time.
I watched on my tablet and headphones while my 7 year old watched spongebob. There was no way I was letting him see any of this.

He's in the Senate, I fully expect the stupid to continue in the House and they will not face any consequences for their treachery built off of lies.

if the Senate doesn’t go along, they cannot continue. They only have to vote on the Arizona objection. Then if no senators allow another objection, there cannot be one.

Indeed, I hope the Senators all sit this out and move on from this. That said, the best thing they could do is both houses in Congress impeach Trump now and Pence finish out as President for the next 2 weeks. At least Pence seems somewhat sane...for now.
