I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

I'm calling it. Mike Lindell another closeted self hating Republican. Got a little to physical with another Republican at night in his hotel room then calls it a setup.

And now the Cyber Ninjas have Covid and are “quite sick” according to Karen Fann. Well, three out of five Ninjas, anyway. They won’t be able to release their formal clown report about their fake audit until later.

Also, the Republican in charge of elections in Maricopa County has issued a 30-40 page take down of the Cyber Ninjas. It’s pretty entertaining and worth the read to see all the safeguards that are already baked in to our elections and why this nonsense in Arizona is a total abomination. I didn’t save it and now I can’t find it again, though.

Here’s a link to the website which has some of the content.

We’ll see how this goes

Rumor was some in Congress were more involved than they’ve admitted to
==================
Washington (CNN)The House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot is poised to send notices to various telecommunications companies requesting that they preserve the phone records of several people, including members of Congress, multiple sources tell CNN.

Preserving communications records is the first step in an investigatory process that could eventually lead to witness testimony. The notices are set to go out as soon as this week and provide the first window into the kinds of information the committee plans to pursue.

Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, who serves as chairman of the Select Committee, has said that he hopes to issue subpoenas by the end of August.

Thompson also has signed off on a broader investigative strategy that will serve as a guide for the panel's work going forward, according to a source familiar with the planning document…….

That Boebert clown was giving tours of the Capitol and tweeting about them on 1/5, while taking pics with militia folks who participated on 1/6. And who was paying Roger Stone and all the other "Guest Speakers" that were around the weekend leading up to this?

(Her tours had to suck, considering she'd probably only been in the building like twice before that day.)

“Per our Denver Field Office, a concerned citizen reported that [REDACTED] were flying into BWI today to attend tomorrow’s rally and ‘incite violence.’ In addition, the source reports that [REDACTED] previously made threats against President-Elect Biden,” the email reads.

“The subjects claimed that they are in the area to protest election fraud, support President Trump, and acknowledged the possibility of violence if approached by counter-protesters,” the email added.

The tipster also reported information regarding the “gear and weapons” people were reportedly bringing with them to Washington.
...
The posts included a number of threatening statements: “Its time the DC Police get their arse whooped for being traitors in our nations capitol,” “DC Police are the enemy of the people. No mercy on the 6th. They are not on our side,” “time to fight! We cant trust the police, the laws, or politicians. It’s time to take out all of them to remain a free country on the 6th,” and “The police need to be dealth with on the 6th. Our 2A covers Marxist police officers. If they want a war, they will get one Wednesday. (middle finger emoji) the DC Police.”

Guess I’ll put this here
==================
A federal judge in Michigan has ordered that Sidney Powell, L. Lin Wood and seven other attorneys who filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn the state’s 2020 presidential election be disciplined, calling the suit “a historic and profound abuse of the judicial process.”

In a scathing 110-page opinion, Federal District Judge Linda V. Parker wrote that the lawyers had made assertions in court that were not backed by evidence and had failed to do the due diligence required by legal rules before alleging mass fraud in the Michigan vote.

“This case was never about fraud,” she wrote. “It was about undermining the People’s faith in our democracy and debasing the judicial process to do so.”
She ordered the lawyers to pay the attorney’s fees for their opponents in the case — the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan. She also wrote that she will require them to attend legal education classes.

And she referred the group to the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission, as well as attorney disciplinary committees in the states where each attorney is licensed, which could initiate proceedings that could result in the lawyer’s being disbarred.

Neither Powell nor Wood immediately responded to requests for comment Wednesday.
The order in Michigan came as judges around the country have been weighing how to hold accountable lawyers who used the courts to advance flimsy challenges to the election…….

This sort of thing would ordinarily end careers, and that needs to happen here. Faith, not only in the judicial process, but also the electoral process needs to be restored. The wreckage the Trump administration left in their wake is profound and will last years.

It's amazing to me that Trump was so pathetically transparent in his attempts to "stop the steal" that he couldn't get a single lawyer with some pedigree to peddle his Big Lie in court. They better go after Jenna Ellis too. Let's not pretend like she wasn't just as big of a mouthpiece and cheerleader as anyone else for this nonsense. And, honestly, their careers were over before this anyway and that's probably part of the reason they were willing to look this bad publicly to begin with.

EDIT: Oops, is there an echo in here? haha, sorry, I missed that this was posted already.

@superchuck500 Looks like some folks are getting sanctioned... Ouch. And good.

DETROIT — Nine lawyers allied with former President Donald Trump face financial penalties and other sanctions after a judge Wednesday said they had abused the court system with a lawsuit that challenged Michigan’s election results in favor of Joe Biden.

U.S. District Judge Linda Parker said the lawsuit last fall was a sham intended to deceive the court and the public, just a few days after Biden’s 154,000-vote victory in the state was certified.

“Despite the haze of confusion, commotion and chaos counsel intentionally attempted to create by filing this lawsuit, one thing is perfectly clear: Plaintiffs’ attorneys have scorned their oath, flouted the rules, and attempted to undermine the integrity of the judiciary along the way,” Parker said in the opening of a scathing 110-page opinion.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of six Republican voters who wanted Parker to decertify Michigan’s results and impound voting machines. The judge declined in December, calling the request “stunning in its scope and breathtaking in its reach.”
The state and Detroit subsequently asked Parker to order sanctions against Sidney Powell, L. Lin Wood and seven other attorneys who were part of the litigation.
The judge agreed, telling the state and city to tally the costs of defending the lawsuit and submit the figures within 14 days.

Parker said lawyers for Trump supporters filed affidavits stuffed with sinister “speculation and conjecture” about the vote-counting process without checking for evidence to support the claims.
“Individuals may have a right — within certain bounds — to disseminate allegations of fraud unsupported by law or fact in the public sphere,” the judge said. “But attorneys cannot exploit their privilege and access to the judicial process to do the same.”
Parker ordered 12 hours of legal education, including six hours in election law, for each attorney.
Her decision will also be sent to the states where the lawyers are licensed for possible disciplinary action there.

I hadn’t heard there was a bipartisan commission looking at the Electoral counting process. This seems to be a good idea.

I'd like to see what they come up with before getting my hopes up. We'll see. I agree it sounds like something with potential.

We did nothing wrong on the 6th and all the evidence will prove that we did nothing wrong on the 6th.

But there will be severe consequences for any company that provides that evidence (that will clear our names)
==========================

(CNN)House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday issued a veiled threat to companies that cooperate with the House select committee investigating the deadly January 6 riot at the US Capitol, warning that "a Republican majority will not forget."

"If these companies comply with the Democrat order to turn over private information, they are in violation of federal law and subject to losing their ability to operate in the United States," the California Republican said in a statement he posted to Twitter. "If companies still choose to violate federal law, a Republican majority will not forget and will stand with Americans to hold them fully accountable under the law."

McCarthy's office would not provide CNN with a specific federal statute that a company would be in violation of if it complied with a duly empaneled congressional committee........
