I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

Is that the US Capitol? While they're conducting official business? For real?

    I'm just...whatthehell? Where are the guards/stormtroopers/cops/Secret Service?

The assassination risk here is off the charts!

    Precisely

Part of the problem is all of the people who kept saying that there was no real threat, nothing could really happen, and eventually he would leave. So there's no real security plan in place to deal with this threat.

It's time to wake up. It's very real. Nothing is off the table now.

Remember that oh so important Federal property in Oregon that had to be protected at all costs....

they broke in to the building, ward. They have large flagpoles that could be used to enter supposedly secure areas, they may well have concealed weapons. They are not tourists. They should be arrested and charged with unlawful entry at the very least.
Trump should be charged with inciting a riot and jailed.

But silently kneeling during the National Anthem ISN'T an acceptable form of protest. Hmmm...

Inside the Capitol Building and not one bullet in the arse; allegedly spending a counterfeit $20 bill, kneel on your neck to death.

    forking bullshirt.

i tend to think since there is an element that is armed in this mayhem, they are attempting to not use force so as not to have force returned and turn into a blood bath.

But at some point, US CAP Police, Secret Service need to take action to quell this before it grows into an unstoppable, inevitable situation.

He was unfit for office before he even became president. They gave him a pass with all his shirt for 4 years. Today I have a strong urge to want to kick them in the balls as hard as I could. I don't know what to do about Susan Collins though

Fret about how wrong it is to kick someone in the crotch then do it anyway

So I don't see a lot of counter-protestors out there. That's probably a good thing right now.

MSNBC just showed a lady getting wheeled out on a gurney covered in blood
