I guess it's time to start a thread for this. We know that at least 140 members of Congress have pledged to join the objection. Under federal law, if at least one member of each house (HOR and Senate) objects, each house will adjourn the joint session for their own session (limited at two hours) to take up the objection. If both houses pass a resolution objecting to the EC result, further action can take place. If both houses do not (i.e. if one or neither passes a resolution), the objection is powerless and the college result is certified.

Clearly this is political theater as we know such a resolution will not pass the House, and there's good reason to think it wouldn't pass the Senate either (with or without the two senators from Georgia). The January 6 joint session is traditionally a ceremonial one. This one will not be.

Many traditional pillars of Republican support have condemned the plan as futile and damaging. Certainly the Trump loyalists don't care - and many are likely doing it for fundraising purposes or to carry weight with the fraction of their constituencies that think this is a good idea.

So, what are you guys thoughts on Mike Lindell getting caught meeting with Trump and with notes on martial law?

Lots of these folks, other than mostly not ever reading the constitution, don't seem to have a broad sense of democratic ideals.

Always makes me think of this scene and they'd benefit from this type of dialogue.

WaPo: a Capitol Police intelligence report warned three days in advance that Congress could be targeted.

Three days before thousands of rioters converged on the U.S. Capitol, an internal Capitol Police intelligence report warned of a violent scenario in which “Congress itself” could be the target of angry supporters of President Trump on Jan. 6, laying out a stark alert that deepens questions about the security failures that day.

In a 12-page report on Jan. 3, the intelligence unit of the congressional police force described how thousands of enraged protesters, egged on by Trump and flanked by white supremacists and extreme militia groups, were likely to stream into Washington armed for battle.

This time, the focus of their ire would be members of Congress, the report said.

“Supporters of the current president see January 6, 2021, as the last opportunity to overturn the results of the presidential election,” according to the memo, portions of which were obtained by The Washington Post. “This sense of desperation and disappointment may lead to more of an incentive to become violent. Unlike previous post-election protests, the targets of the pro-Trump supporters are not necessarily the counter-protesters as they were previously, but rather Congress itself is the target on the 6th.”

This is a link to a Facebook video that Jenna Ryan, the Texas real estate agent who has been arrested, live-streamed on her way to Trump’s rally. It’s about 20 minutes and nothing particularly exciting happens, but it’s an interesting insight into the perspective of somebody who was there.

Quick takeaways:

She talks several times about going to war and fighting if the election isn’t overturned in Trump’s favor.

Courts and judges were paid off.

She alludes to going to the Capitol without saying it, but talking about “outnumbering them” and they “better listen to the evidence today”.

Listening to her, you’ll pick up on the level of ignorance that is guiding her.

Communism, communism, communism.

Jesus.

Also fun when she mistakes the Treasury building for the White House, and as the Washington Monument comes into her view, she acknowledges it as the “phallic symbol”

I guess this should go here.

American Thinker (a conservative magazine with the oxymoronic name) was one of many, many right wing pushers of the stolen election lie.

Today they released this statement in response to the lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems.

This is what happens when propaganda “news” outlets realize they’re about to be financially responsible for the lies they push.

One down, many many more to go.

American Thinker and contributors Andrea Widburg, R.D. Wedge, Brian Tomlinson, and Peggy Ryan have published pieces on [their website; I’m not linking that crap] that falsely accuse US Dominion Inc., Dominion Voting Systems, Inc., and Dominion Voting Systems Corporation (collectively “Dominion”) of conspiring to steal the November 2020 election from Donald Trump. These pieces rely on discredited sources who have peddled debunked theories about Dominion’s supposed ties to Venezuela, fraud on Dominion’s machines that resulted in massive vote switching or weighted votes, and other claims falsely stating that there is credible evidence that Dominion acted fraudulently.

These statements are completely false and have no basis in fact. Industry experts and public officials alike have confirmed that Dominion conducted itself appropriately and that there is simply no evidence to support these claims.
It was wrong for us to publish these false statements. We apologize to Dominion for all of the harm this caused them and their employees. We also apologize to our readers for abandoning 9 journalistic principles and misrepresenting Dominion’s track record and its limited role in tabulating votes for the November 2020 election. We regret this grave error.

Dominion is going to sue everyone it seems. Good.

Tbh, I don't really care. They'll be out of the WH in a few days.
But that’s when the work really starts - Rs will be able to go back to their natural state of defense and if they control the narrative and talk about Biden’s work out of context from the destruction that Trump wrought, then we set ourselves up to repeat the mistake of letting nixonians have free reign in Reagan’s admin
That can’t happen
We need to pull up all trump seeds and weeds and salt the earth

Truly scary that the attack on the Capitol might not have been the ending of this extremist movement but the beginning

I don't know who looks at the Capitol siege and says to themselves "I need to be a part of this"
===========================================================

Overthrowing the government. Igniting a second Civil War. Banishing racial minorities, immigrants and Jews. Or simply sowing chaos in the streets.

The ragged camps of far-right groups and white nationalists emboldened under President Trump have long nursed an overlapping list of hatreds and goals. But now they have been galvanized by the outgoing president’s false claims that the election was stolen from him — and by the violent attack on the nation’s Capitol that hundreds of them led in his name.

“The politicians who have lied, betrayed and sold out the American people for decades were forced to cower in fear and scatter like rats,” one group, known for pushing the worst anti-Semitic tropes, commented on Twitter the day after the attack.

The Capitol riots served as a propaganda coup for the far right, and those who track hate groups say the attack is likely to join an extremist lexicon with Waco, Ruby Ridge and the Bundy occupation of an Oregon wildlife preserve in fueling recruitment and violence for years to come.

Even as dozens of rioters have been arrested, chat rooms and messaging apps where the far right congregates are filled with celebrations and plans. An ideological jumble of hate groups and far-right agitators — the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, the Boogaloo movement and neo-Nazis among them — are now discussing how to expand their rosters and whether to take to the streets again this weekend and next week to oppose the inauguration of Joseph R. Biden Jr.

Some, enraged by their failure to overturn the presidential election, have posted manuals on waging guerrilla warfare and building explosive devices..............
