Former President D. Trump has been indicted by a New York Grand Jury. There will be much to talk about on this topic because this is just the first step in a lengthy process.
Possibly it is worthy of its own thread here rather than posting about Trump's indictment in already existing threads?

This 3/31/23 story might get the ball rolling....

Yeah, sure George Will. 🙄

So you don't even know US politics. George Will was a Republican/conservative/Reaganite. Someone like me who doesn't want to see Trump get any leg up isn't a conservative.

:ROFLMAO:

Is there anything that isn't over your head?

I know exactly who George Will is.

Your inability to comprehend that I was referencing George Will's propencity to act like he talking above people's head, because he's so smart, and not his political leaning only demonstrates how out classed you are at being petty.

🤣🤣🤣💅

Yeah, as if there aren't any arrogant liberals.

Even you didn't know what you meant.

When Trump and his sycophants say this is a crime that is never charged, that is a lie. When they say Trump is only being charged because he is running for President, that is a lie.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Stormy Daniels must pay nearly $122,000 of Donald Trump’s legal fees that were racked up in connection with the porn actor’s failed defamation lawsuit, an appeals court ruled Tuesday.

The decision in California came at about the same time that that Trump became the only ex-president to be charged with a crime. Trump pleaded not guilty in a New York City courtroom to a 34-count felony indictment accusing him falsifying business records in a scheme to hush up allegations of extramarital affairs with Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal that broke during his first White House run.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, alleges she had an affair with Trump in 2006 and was paid $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement days before the 2016 presidential election.

She sued him for defamation after he dismissed her claims of being threatened to keep quiet about the tryst as a “total con job.” A judge threw out the case in 2018.

On Tuesday, a commissioner for the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Trump’s attorneys “reasonably spent” more than 183 hours on an appeal of the case but denied a request for another $5,150 in other fees because it wasn’t itemized……..

I didn’t realize that a side benefit of arresting Trump would be that Ronny Jackson’s lies would be definitively exposed:

He openly admits to taking documents.
openly admits he has no idea what the Presidential act means
openly admits that he doesnt understand the declassification process
openly admits that he is hung up on 2020.
openly attacks the presiding Judge in the NYC case AND his daughter after being TOLD at arraignment ( with his attorneys present ) "no gag order, but tone down the rhetoric"

He is a defense attorneys absolute worst nightmare. He thinks he is untouchable and speaks without forethought.

His vanity will be his undoing and im going to watch from the sidelines as the circus around him grows to a crescendo, then the main tent pole breaks.

That's between you and Romney. I'm just pointing out that you can be both against Trump and against the charges he's facing.
To be fair, I’m not sure how anyone can be against the charges he’s facing, beyond thinking that it’s a stretch to try and upgrade them to a felony.

It seems like there is very clear evidence that Trump did exactly what he is accused of doing in the indictment.

As for the felony upgrade, I can see people saying it’s a stretch….but, this exact same approach has been used before in New York. In the previous case, the defendant was a large bank, and they ended up pleading guilty, so it hasn’t actually been tested in court.

I agree with everything you said in the opening block as well as the middle ( "His vanity...."
Yet I'm not so sure that the end result will be the main tent pole breaking and he is done for.
I fear that he will get away with his past wrongdoings and not facing legal consequences...... and worse yet, become the GOP nominee....I fear that.

I can't wait for when Michael Cohen testifies and the defense says "Why should we believe the word of a convicted felon?"

and Cohen responds with, "I was convicted for this crime! Not an identical but separate crime, I was convicted for literally this exact crime, which I only did because Donald Trump told me to"

Exactly how I feel as well. I just get the sense that this will ultimately be a waste of everyone's time. Until he's actually convicted, I ain't holding my breath.

Well, this trial is not exactly being fast tracked, I would expect his other issues to be tried first even though this is his first indictment.
