Oh, but he's only joking - well, maybe, so they say. Or sort of joking with Canada, and maybe not joking with Greenland - saying that "ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity" doesn't sound like a joke . . . and um, not sure about what the about Panama Canal thing is?

So, after Trump starts World War III decades later will we be teaching schoolkids about it like Germany teaches the Nazis and Holocaust or just glossing over it like we already do for America's greatest sins?

Canadians who visit the US for more than 30 days will be required to register with authorities and have their fingerprints taken, as the Trump administration tightens migration rules amid soaring tensions between the North American neighbors.

The new requirement, effective from 11 April, will harden enforcement of an existing law, which states that all foreign nationals 14 years old or older who plan to stay in the US for 30 days or more must register with the authorities.

In practice, that rule has not been applied consistently to Canadians entering the United States across the 5,525-mile land border between the two countries.

On his first day in office in January, Donald Trumpsigned an executive order directing US authorities to enforce the rule. “Failure to comply may result in criminal and civil penalties, up to and including misdemeanor prosecution, the imposition of fines, and incarceration,” the order said.

The move marks a further deterioration in ties between the historical allies since Trump returned to power. Trump has meanwhile repeatedly called for Canada to become the 51st US state – a taunt seen by some north of the border as an annexation threat.…….

Greenland’s probable new prime minister has rejected Donald Trump’s effort to take control of the island, saying Greenlanders must be allowed to decide their own future as it moves toward independence from Denmark.

Jens-Frederik Nielsen, whose centre-right Democrats won a surprise victory in this week’s legislative elections and now must form a coalition government, pushed back on Thursday against Trump’s repeated claims that the US will annex the island.

“We don’t want to be Americans. No, we don’t want to be Danes. We want to be Greenlanders, and we want our own independence in the future,” Nielsen, 33, told Sky News. “And we want to build our own country by ourselves.”

Greenland’s outgoing prime minister, Múte Egede, said he would convene a meeting of party leaders to jointly reject Trump’s threats, warning: “Enough is enough.”

“This time we need to toughen our rejection of Trump. People cannot continue to disrespect us,” Egede wrote on Facebook.

Egede continues to lead Greenland while a new government is formed.

“The American president has once again evoked the idea of annexing us. I absolutely cannot accept that,” he wrote.……

I mean, that dumbass wants it both ways. Wants them to be a state, but treats them like a third world country.

Greenland has accused the Trump administration of being “highly aggressive” by sending a delegation of senior officials to the territory this week.

President Donald Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz is visiting Greenland early this week with the U.S. energy secretary Chris Wright, according to reports, in addition to a separate trip by Second Lady Usha Vance on Thursday.

The trips come after Trump’s repeated threats to annex the autonomous territory.

Greenland’s prime minister Mute B. Egede was quoted in a Greenlandic newspaper Sundayfuriously questioning why Waltz was visiting.

“We are now at a level where it can in no way be characterized as a harmless visit from a politician's wife,” Egede said, according to Greenland’s Sermitsiaq newspaper. “What is the national security adviser doing in Greenland? The only purpose is to demonstrate power over us.”…….
