There is a lot of push-back from Trump on voting by mail, but most states allow it, and 1/3 allow it without any excuse. His rationale is that it will lead to vast fraud, but of course that isn't his real reason. His real reason is that he thinks it will be worse for conservatives, but studies have shown that states that have instituted much broader voting by mail haven't had any statistical changes in party voting.

Although, normally voting by mail doesn't affect party votes, I bet it might this year if we have another resurgence of Covid, because I think the right is much more apt to discount the virus than the left. I know that is why Trump is against it.

Whether you're left or right wing, expanding mail in votes is the right thing to do to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus, to expand voter participation, and to make it easier for those that do show up to stay distant. It will also allow any people with susceptibilities to remain safer. I think voting by mail could be made extremely secure by having people vote using traditional postal mail, coupled with requiring a confirmation either by phone, email or text. If done by phone, then voters can provide confirmation that can include confirming their form number. If done by email or text, it can include a picture of their form, and then confirmation that that was their form. Rather than staffers individually calling people, this can be automated by having voters call the number, text the number, or email the address provided to them on their form. A website can even be created with a database of those that have voted, and perhaps a link to allow people to confirm their vote was correctly registered. For people without computers, a site can include a means to access the database over the phone with some confirmation information. These types of systems are used extensively by banks and other sites that need security, so I think they are mature enough to use. We could even use such a site for people to confirm their vote on the day of the election.

I didn’t think the President could name a special counsel?

That's not even the biggest problem.

The DOJ has pretty specific rules about appointing a Special Counsel. One of the tests is whether or not there is a perceived conflict of interest by allowing the investigation be done through normal agencies.

Not only is there no perceived conflict of interest by allowing the FBI to investigate, appointing someone who has been directly involved in filing numerous legal cases about election issues is CREATING a conflict of interest.

Here is an article about the two potential defamation suits against right wing media.

Also, saw a tweet from Maggie Haberman about Sidney Powell being at the White House again this evening.

So, it seems that while we were screaming at our TVs yesterday, Dear Leader and his crack legal team were filling another appeal with SCOTUS over the Pennsylvania results.

So, does Trump have a chance or nah?

I think not. I don't know whether the central argument has any merit or not. The election rules may have been changed improperly from a technical POV. I just don't know. However, once they were changed, there was adequate time for all voters to take advantage of mail-in/absentee voting. Since there was an opportunity for voters to choose either candidate, the Trump campaign's contention that it was unfair to Trump is unfounded. The fact that Trump discouraged his supporters from using an approved method of voting falls on Trump, not on the Biden campaign, Democratic Party voters or the state of Pennsylvania. That's on him. If I was hearing this case, I would ask where Trump was harmed if both candidates were listed on the ballots in question.

Ultimately, I can't see this latest challenge winning, but there could be some procedural issues specific to Pennsylvania. And what would the remedy be? They aren't likely to throw out the entire election based on a procedural problem and they certainly aren't going to simply award the state to Trump based on one. Everyone who submitted a ballot by mail had the opportunity to vote for either candidate, so I don't see this case getting anywhere. Of course, if the objective isn't to win, but to create the appearance of fighting for fundraising purposes, then the objective will be achieved.

Oh wow Rich. I didn't mean to pull that out of you. I was asking jokingly, as I have before. Good analysis though.

Tribe agrees with you, Richard. I’m sure that will give you that warm fuzzy feeling, lol.

Some of them have no idea what they’ve done. (freerepublic.com)

This has been the plan by the Deep State all along. They didn’t expect Trump to win in 2016. He messed up their plans. Delayed it a little. They weren’t about to let it happen again. Covid was weaponized, Governors helped shut down their states, the media helped shame and kill the economy, and the super lucky unverifiable mail-in ballots were just the trick to make sure the career politician allegedly with hands in Chinese payrolls that couldn’t finish a sentence or collect a crowd, miraculously became the most popular vote recipient of all time.

You have just witnessed a coup, the overthrow of the US free election system, the end of our constitutional republic, and the merge of capitalism into the slide toward socialism. What will happen next? Expect the borders to open up. Increased immigration. Expect agencies like CBP and INS and Homeland Security to be muzzled or even deleted. Law enforcement will see continued defunding. The electoral college will be gone. History erased. Two Supreme Court Justices might be removed. The Supreme Court will be packed. Your 2nd Amendment rights will be taken from you. If you have a manufacturing job or oil industry job, get ready. If you run a business, brace for impact. Maybe you’ll be on the hook for slavery reparations, or have your suburbs turned into Section 8 housing. Your taxes will go up, and businesses will pay more.

These people are mentally ill. Sadly, I think it's more people than some realize. I just got emailed this link from a very successful college educated businessman.
