There is a lot of push-back from Trump on voting by mail, but most states allow it, and 1/3 allow it without any excuse. His rationale is that it will lead to vast fraud, but of course that isn't his real reason. His real reason is that he thinks it will be worse for conservatives, but studies have shown that states that have instituted much broader voting by mail haven't had any statistical changes in party voting.

Although, normally voting by mail doesn't affect party votes, I bet it might this year if we have another resurgence of Covid, because I think the right is much more apt to discount the virus than the left. I know that is why Trump is against it.

Whether you're left or right wing, expanding mail in votes is the right thing to do to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus, to expand voter participation, and to make it easier for those that do show up to stay distant. It will also allow any people with susceptibilities to remain safer. I think voting by mail could be made extremely secure by having people vote using traditional postal mail, coupled with requiring a confirmation either by phone, email or text. If done by phone, then voters can provide confirmation that can include confirming their form number. If done by email or text, it can include a picture of their form, and then confirmation that that was their form. Rather than staffers individually calling people, this can be automated by having voters call the number, text the number, or email the address provided to them on their form. A website can even be created with a database of those that have voted, and perhaps a link to allow people to confirm their vote was correctly registered. For people without computers, a site can include a means to access the database over the phone with some confirmation information. These types of systems are used extensively by banks and other sites that need security, so I think they are mature enough to use. We could even use such a site for people to confirm their vote on the day of the election.

Evidently it’s a Tea Party group calling for Trump to declare Martial Law and overthrow the election with the military overseeing a “do-over” election. As an aside, the Tea Party bills itself as a group dedicated to upholding the Constitution. Oh, and General Flynn is joining in. Good lord. And Lin Wood is claiming he is acting at the request of Trump.

I think Sidney Powell has some mental issues, seriously. She’s impaired, does she not have anyone in her life to intervene?

Didn't one of them also sign an affidavit that they felt intimidated because a large black man was wearing a BLM shirt?

The last guy is my favorite though. In 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2020, they used Dominion's algorithms to steal the election. I guess someone forgot to click the right icon in 2016?
For Obama's reign of destruction in America.

    Wut?

We may have hit on why these MAGAts find personaly/ideological loyalty to be so important.

If I were her paralegal, I'd find it hard not to troll her constantly. Typos, random assertions, etc. If your loyalty is to the law or to the United States, you're just about honor bound to sabotage these dimwits every chance you get.

Will this the new normal moving forward?

From now on when a high profile Republican loses an election will there be cries of voter fraud and rigging?

I don't think so. Trump is in a league of his own. What he's doing is unprecedented. I certainly hope this doesn't become the norm.

There have always been issues of voting irregularities in the past. That isn't new. But the throwing out of widespread fraud and cheating is definitely new, and hopefully not repeated again in the future.

That said, Trump and his kin no doubt are going to try again in 2024 and beyond. Let's hope it doesn't happen.

    Maybe

But the GOP support and silence is also unprecedented (and in many ways is more troubling than Trump's claims), as is the 150+ million raised afterwards

Over 70% of republicans believe that the election was stolen

I don't think the endgame is to overturn the election it's to raise money and raise the anger/hatred of the base and keep the emotions running high which can come in helpful for the midterms and 2024 and makes it even easier to oppose/criticize/block every single thing that the Biden Admin does or tries to do

There are Republicans speaking out loudly about this whole mess, but certainly not nearly enough of them. I do agree that a lot of this is political posturing for 2024, but there shouldn't ever be political posturing that calls into question the legitimacy of elections.

    Yes.

They have no integrity, if they did, this trump Stupid Fest would not be happening. They wouldn't be installing Fed Judges at this point, they wouldn't be making foreign policy actions that will have a negative effect in the incoming administration and they wouldn't be condoning the anti-democratic actions of trump.

And what has elected Republicans done to put an end to his "unprecedented" actions? They have condone it, and now we have a new precedent. Sens. McConnel & Graham have already shown that they fully embrace the stupid and hypocrisy that has become the Republican party. Not to mention, the majority of Republican Senators will happily gone on any news channel and spew the same stupid that trump spews on Twitter further misinforming the American voter.

    For what it's worth

I'm curious about the 33% who said Biden is the one acting poorly
    ============================
A majority of voters say President Trump has behaved poorly post-election, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Sixty-two percent of registered voters in the Nov. 27-30 survey said Trump has behaved poorly in the weeks following the election while 38 percent say he has behaved well.

By contrast, 67 percent of respondents said Biden has behaved well.

Hill-HarrisX data show that 50 percent of registered voters approve of the job Trump is doing as president, including 93 percent of respondents who said they cast their ballots for Trump and 83 percent of those who identify as Republican voters.

Seventy percent of Trump voters said he has behaved well since the election, while 63 percent of Republicans agree.

By contrast, 86 percent of Democrats and 65 percent of independents say Trump has behaved poorly following the election.............

I think this is the campaign thread. And I think my post is campaign related - not "presidenting" related - but since this Barbie doll is running interference for both I'm not sure where to even post this tweet.

Could any of us actually imagined that things would be as they are today back in 2015 before Trump descended on the escalator in Trump Tower to proceed to call Mexicans rapists and murderers? And there are people who want MORE of how we ended up where we are today...Me? I want a refund.

ETA: Yeah, I'm just going to leave this here too.
