The FBI has reportedly stepped up its use of polygraph lie-detector tests on bureau staff, as Director Kash Patel allegedly hunts for agents who have criticized his leadership or leaked to the news media.

Sources told The New York Times that dozens of FBI personnel had been questioned. That includes a senior employee, asked if they had said anything negative about Patel, and another who was subject to an interview as the bureau sought to discover who told journalists about Patel’s unusual request for a service weapon.

The lie detector tests, the sources said, marked a break from precedent at the FBI, where such tests were more commonly used against those thought to have betrayed the country or to have committed major offenses.……

Referring to the FBI director and his deputy, Feinberg wrote in Lawfare: “Under Patel and Bongino, subject matter expertise and operational competence are readily sacrificed for ideological purity and the ceaseless politicization of the work force.”………

Nobody should be surprised by this. They will destroy the FBI by turning it into an organization of loyalty to one man only.

These GOP appointees have repeatedly shown nothing but contempt towards Congress and no one will ever hold them accountable. The GOP voters are embracing this shirtting on the Constitution. Is it because they truly embrace an authoritarian government as long it is a right-wing authoritarian government?

Around one in five of Donald Trump’s closest allies, including members of his administration and nominees, currently hold significant assets in cryptocurrency, according to a new report.

Several cabinet members, including Vice President JD Vance and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, have all reported personal stakes – as well as the president himself, who has reported at least $51 million worth of investment.

Despite being skeptical of the digital currency during his first term, digital assets now feature heavily on the president’s disclosures, according to analysis by The Washington Post. As recently as this week, Trump extolled the virtues of crypto.

“HAPPY CRYPTO WEEK!,” he wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday. “The House will soon VOTE on a tremendous Bill to Make America the UNDISPUTED, NUMBER ONE LEADER in Digital Assets - Nobody does it better!... Digital Assets are the FUTURE, and we are leading by a lot!”……..

Donald Trump has given a New York prosecutor a new job title to keep him in power after federal judges rejected his appointment.

John Sarcone III was supposed to be removed as interim US attorney for New York’s northern district after a judicial panel refused to make his appointment permanent. Instead, the justice department has made him “special attorney to the attorney general” with the same powers and no time limit.

The appointment represents Trump’s curious pattern of working around traditional oversight mechanisms. Unlike his first term, when all 85 US attorney nominees were confirmed by the Senate, his second administration has formally nominated only about a quarter of that number, relying instead on interim appointments that bypass Senate confirmation.

Carl Tobias, a law professor at the University of Richmond trying to make sense of the appointment said the justice department is using a federal law called 28 US Code Section 515 to justify the move, but he says that’s a stretch. That law allows for “special attorneys” to handle specific cases, but this sort of application may not be intended to let someone serve as both acting US attorney and first assistant at the same time.

“It is unclear that Congress intended this code section to authorize the latter two named appointments,” said Tobias. “The historical practice has been to nominate people to be US Attorneys during the appointing president’s term subject to confirmation by the Senate.”

The move keeps Sarcone in place despite a string of problems that have raised questions about his credibility and qualifications. The Albany Times Union revealed that an address he listed as his legal residence in a police affidavit was actually a boarded-up building. When questioned, Sarcone offered shifting explanations about apartment renovations delayed by tariffs on Chinese windows, admitting he had been staying in hotels since his March appointment.

Federal law requires US attorneys to live within their district, making the residency question legally significant.

One notable issue came when Sarcone appeared on Fox News claiming an undocumented immigrant had tried to kill him with a knife outside an Albany hotel. But surveillance footage showed the two men never got closer than 20 ft, a direct contradiction of Sarcone’s story of being “chased with a knife” by “a maniac” speaking “in a foreign language”.…….

Just a brief reminder of history. The Nazi's gain no traction in Germany if Germany was not driven into poverty and chaos after WWI.

Everything Trump and the Republicans are doing is designed to drive us into poverty and chaos. The two are not a coincidence. The thing is, the Nazi's wouldn't have taken full control of Germany in the age of the internet.

This last ditch gasp by tyrants across the globe is and will continue to inflict death and pain, but at some point it's going to backfire on them catastrophically.

Another brief reminder of history, when tyrants lose power, they are treated the same way they treated those they oppressed. The pitchforks are coming. Some billionaires realize that and are trying to get the tyrannical billionaires to change course.

    Thank goodness for small favors.

    You were saying???

The judge was just following the law by assigning the deputy because Habba's temporary tenure had expired, BY LAW. The only people not adhering to our laws is this Republican led rogue government.

This Republican administration is no longer a "threat" to our democracy, they are actively rendering it inert.
