I think he's another person who will have a hard time getting through the Senate.
I would like to think so. He actually was probably criminally liable for Jan 6. To confirm him would be an admission that the GOP wants to destroy the rule of law.

you keep thinking that will happen. even if it does the GOP does not have the balls to stand against Trump. they are all whelps showing their yellow bellies to Trump. he will get whatever he wants and has told us many times.

Pete Hegseth, the man tapped by Donald Trump to become Defense Secretary, has come under fire from Democrats and other liberal pundits after he was branded as an “abuser of women” by his own mother.

A report from The New York Times featured a 2018 email to the former Fox News anchor from Penelope Hegseth, where she said she had “no respect” for her son and that he needed “take an honest look at yourself.”

The Times reported that in an interview on Friday, Penelope Hegseth had backtracked on the comments and said she had sent her son an immediate follow-up email, apologizing for what she had said.

But social media commentators were quick to react to the report, with former Democratic Representative Bakari Sellers writing: “This letter from Pete Hesgeths mom is…whoa. MAGA will turn a blind eye but this is something.”

“Man Pete Hegseth’s mom thinks he’s a real piece of s***,” wrote attorney Andrew Fleischman.

Author James Surowiecki added: "Hegseth was already unqualified to be Defense Secretary, simply because he has zero experience running a large organization. His history with women (as set out by his mom) also makes him totally unsuited to run a department with hundreds of thousands of female employees.”……

    Kash Patel,
Donald Trump’s pick to lead the FBI, has made a living hawking products to MAGA loyalists from “King Donald” children’s books to supplements claiming to reverse the Covid-19 vaccine.

Patel, a Trump ultra-loyalist who served as chief of staff to the acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller in Trump’s first administration, was tapped for the position on Saturday – despite being a vocal critic of the bureau, previously describing it as the so-called “deep state.”

Following his exit from Trump’s first administration, the right-wing operative has benefited from his close association with the president-elect.

In particular, Patel has flogged a suite of products aimed at the MAGA crowd, bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars from Trump-aligned businesses.

Here’s a look at his MAGA merchandise ventures:

    Covid anti-vaccine pills

Earlier this year, Patel promoted pills that claim to reverse the effects of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Marketed under the trademark “Nocovidium,” the pills from a company called Warrior Essentials actually simply contain common dietary supplement ingredients including turmeric extract, green tea extract and vitamin D.

“Spike the Vax, order this homerun kit to rid your body of the harms of the vax,” Patel said in a Truth Social post promoting the pills in February.

In April, he shared another advert on Truth Social reading: “You were immune to the propaganda, but are you immune to the shedders.”

    ‘King Donald’ children’s books

Patel has also penned three children’s books as part of the Plot Against the King trilogy, featuring himself as a wizard called the “Distinguished Discoverer” defending “King Donald” from villains.

The three main villains are: “Hillary Queenton,” “Sleepy Joe” and “Comma-la-la-la.”……….

Next week, Cassidy Hutchinson will turn 28. The New Jersey native graduated from Christopher Newport University in Virginia five years ago. She interned briefly on Capitol Hill before taking a job at the White House, earning a write-up in the college newspaper. She worked in the Trump administration for a little over two years.

This, according to Kash Patel, earns Hutchinson a spot as one of 60 “Members of the Executive Branch Deep State.” Should he be confirmed to run the FBI, as President-elect Donald Trump desires, Hutchinson and those 59 others could find that their stints as government employees, however brief, earned them federal criminal investigations. Not because they compromised the public trust, but because they ran afoul of Trump — or Patel.

Patel’s list was delineated in his 2023 book, “Government Gangsters,” a screed that mirrors Patel’s children’s book series “The Plot Against the King” (the eponymous king being Trump) in casting anti-Trump and anti-Patel forces as wrong or evil or both. Trump gave “Gangsters” his blessing, calling it a “brilliant roadmap highlighting every corrupt actor” that would be used to “help us take back the White House and remove these Gangsters from all of Government.”

Hutchinson, of course, no longer works in government. She served under Trump’s White House chief of staff Mark Meadows as Trump’s first term in office concluded. She eventually offered public testimony about what she observed as Trump tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election. That is the reason she’s on the list: not because she is a member of the “deep state” — her tenure barely qualifies as inch-deep — but because she had the temerity to speak truth to Trump’s power.

Several other people on the list fit the same pattern. Nina Jankowicz worked for the government for a bit over a month in 2022, selected by President Joe Biden to run a government board targeting misinformation. The right, building on the coronavirus pandemic by casting Biden and the left as dangerously censorious, attacked the board and Jankowicz, leading to the organization’s dissolution. She became an enemy of Trumpworld and, therefore, an element of the anti-Trump deep state.

Melania Trump’s former chief of staff and later Trump administration press secretary Stephanie Grisham made the list because she eventually spoke out against her former boss. So did Alyssa Farah, who worked for the government only as a member of the Trump administration, but became part of the “deep state” when she offered negative information about Trump publicly.

Several lesser-known members of Trump’s first term in office are also on the list. There are two members of his legal team, for example: Pat Cipollone and Pat Philbin, who defended Trump during his first impeachment trial. Perhaps because Cipollone rejected Trump’s efforts to retain power after losing in 2020, he was placed on Patel’s “deep state” list. His tenure as a state actor extends no further than his work for Trump. Cipollone and Philbin testified to the House select committee investigating the Capitol riot...............

I can't imagine how sad and scared someone like Kash Patel must be. What a pathetic little man.

Really - they cannot figure this out? Wonder why the only proposed black person is proposed to lead HUD? It’s such a mystery, lol.

“As President-elect Donald Trump fills out his Cabinet and chooses his closet advisers ahead of Inauguration Day, many African American leaders are asking why more Black people haven't been appointed to key positions.

ABC News spoke to more than a half dozen longtime and new African American conservatives and Republicans within Trumpworld, in and outside of Washington.

Last month, the president-elect appointed Scott Turner, who was executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump's first term, to serve as secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.”

Well, HUD is a black job, is it not? :idunno:

Saw an alert from the WSJ that Trump is considering dropping Hegseth for…wait for it…Ron DeathSantis.

    What an absolute fustercluck.

Congressman Sean Casten, Democrat of Illinois, introduced a privileged resolution on Tuesday demanding the House ethics committee release its investigative report on former representative Matt Gaetz, even after Gaetz withdrew from consideration after being nominated to be Donald Trump’s attorney general, amid sexual scandal.

Casten’s resolution calls for immediate public disclosure of the committee’s draft report, including conclusions, recommendations and supporting materials, with provisions to protect sensitive information and witness identities.

The ethics committee’s investigation was centered around serious allegations against Gaetz, including potential sexual misconduct, inappropriate congressional behavior, misuse of campaign funds, using illicit drugs, and possible bribery. Gaetz has consistently denied these claims.

Casten’s move came weeks after he led 97 House Democrats in signing a letter requesting the report’s release. In this case, the resolution will force a House vote within two legislative days, though Republican leadership is expected to resist.

Speaker Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, has opposed releasing the report in the past, arguing that ethics investigations typically conclude when a member leaves Congress. Gaetz resigned from the House as soon as Trump nominated him to become attorney general, and when he stepped aside eight days later after it was clear he would struggle to be confirmed even with a Republican majority in the Senate, he indicated he would not seek to return to Congress.

However, Casten has often pointed to previous cases, such as the 2011 investigation of former Representative Eric Massa, where investigations continued after a member’s resignation.

“The committee on ethics has, on many occasions, released its reports on former members,” Casten said in a statement. “Resigning from Congress should not allow members to avoid accountability for allegations as serious as those faced by Matt Gaetz.”…….

So I thought that Gaetz was the sacrificial lamb, the one served up to stir up outrage and take the hit of not getting confirmed so other bad choices would get through "they won't deny all my picks". Gaetz withdrawing leaves that role left open

Now I'm wondering if Patel or Hegseth is that lamb

Of course it's just as likely that Trump truly wants these terrible picks to be confirmed
    ===============================

Kash Patel’s comments during a September 2023 appearance on self-proclaimed "prophet" Julie Green's podcast are deeply troubling and raise serious concerns about his potential fitness to serve as FBI director. Patel’s remarks, dripping with partisan animosity, paint a picture of someone far more concerned with loyalty to Donald Trump than with impartiality, justice, or uniting Americans under the banner of fairness.

Patel, speaking alongside conspiracy theorist Clay Clark, attacked supporters of GOP primary candidates like Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Mike Pence, implying they were traitors to Trump. Patel referred to DeSantis as “Tater Tot Ron” and delivered a pointed warning to Republicans who might dare to support a candidate other than Trump:

“Now we also know who really supports Donald Trump and who doesn't.”

Patel went further, issuing an ominous declaration that those who oppose Trump during the primary will face exclusion:

“You need to not be messaging to people who when you talk to them who say yeah I'm all in I'm going to help you then turn around and stab you in the face and the back. And that's the type of people you're talking about. And they're out now. And we know. It’s your right. You want to go vote for Tater Tot Ron down in Florida. That’s fine. You could do your thing. If you want to go vote for Chris Christie’s word salad or Pence ... I don’t care. That’s your right as an American, but if you’re a pastor, if you’re a businessman, if you’re a sports team owner, if you’re from Hollywood and you want to go support all those people, do it loudly. Make sure we hear you because you will never be allowed back in the dojo ever again.”

Kash Patel: "You want to go vote for Tater Tot Ron down in Florida. That’s fine."

This rhetoric suggests Patel supports canceling anyone deemed insufficiently loyal to Trump, potentially barring them from participating in future Republican administrations. It also raises the alarming prospect that Patel, if confirmed as FBI Director, might implement partisan loyalty tests within one of the nation’s most powerful law enforcement agencies.

An FBI director should prioritize justice, integrity, and fairness, not act as a partisan enforcer for any political figure. The agency’s independence and credibility hinge on the public’s trust that it will act impartially, without political bias. Patel’s divisive statements betray a mindset wholly unsuited for this role, as they signal a willingness to use power to punish dissent rather than pursue justice............
