Is there a trade deal with China? Is it really a deal or just a pull-back to status quo ante? Is Trump advancing US interests in this well-executed trade battle plan or was this poorly conceived from the start . . . and harmful?

I think the jury's still out, but I haven't seen that the Chinese are offering much in compromise - and it's not even clear if there's going to be an agreement. But it's clear they are working on something and I'm sure Trump will sell it as the greatest trade deal ever. The proof will be in the details.

Someone please ask Trump, Vance, Dr. Oz and everyone else who made a video telling people vote Trump to lower egg prices what they think of this
=====

Egg prices are already at an all-time high, and, according to a USDA estimate, they're only likely to get more expensive as the year continues.

According to a US Department of Agricultureprojection, egg prices are expected to increaseby 41 percent this year.

Skyrocketing egg prices are largely the result of a widespread bird flu outbreak that forced a mass culling of egg-laying birds. With fewer birds, there are fewer eggs, and with scarcity comes increased cost.

The USDA issued its prediction on Tuesday, showing that prices for the rest of the year are expected to double the already 20 percent spike in egg prices the agency warned about a month ago.……

In fairness, Trump can't control this increase in egg prices due to the bird flu, but if Biden or Harris were in office, the right wouldn't be nuanced. They would be trashing Harris. With that said, anyone who voted for Trump due to egg prices is a dumbass, and they won't understand nuance anyway.

Funny story about that:
About 95 million chickens, turkeys, and other poultry have been killed and disposed of since February 2022, according to USDA data obtained by Reuters showing culling and disposal methods through late June.
Bird flu is fatal in birds and the government requires entire flocks to be culled once the virus is on a farm. The deadliest year was 2022, but nearly as many chickens have been disposed of so far in 2024 as in all of 2023, the data shows.

I get that, but

Egg Prices are high under Biden:

GOP: Biden's raising the prices of eggs because he hates America and wants you to suffer

Egg Prices are high under Trump:

DEMS: In all fairness, bird flu, complex factors, supply and demand, etc. (not directed at your personally)

and look at where it's gotten them

Dems way too often play the In Fairness, nice guy Adults in the room who knows how things actually work and respects the process

Some times (and I believe that time is now) fork fairness. Give as good as you got. Give as unnuanced as you got

Not fair? Not true?

Tough

And plenty of people said they only voted for Trump because of inflation and because he blamed Biden for it, and because he said he'd fix it on Day one easy peasy

And look where that got us

Trudeau confirms retaliatory tariffs on $150B of US imports to Canada..

Hooray isolationist policy

Both unemployment and inflation are sticking up. Consumer sentiment is down two straight months.
And tariffs will do nothing except pushing inflation higher. All characteristics of a stagflation economy.

That’s why they want to back out gov spending from GDP - so people can’t see the economic impact of their cuts.

The whole justification that “government spending isn’t real productivity” is so obviously stupid and specious. The government funds construction, pays salaries to working people and professionals, buy supplies and products - of course it’s real.

They just want to hide the impact.

And meantime, somebody sure seems like they are using insider knowledge to get richer.

Here we go….
